Within the framework of the program, Mr. Tran Ba Duong reported on large-scale agricultural production investment activities of enterprises in Cambodia.
Accordingly, in 2019, THACO established Truong Hai Agricultural Joint Stock Company ("THACO AGRI") to implement a large-scale agricultural production investment strategy. In 2020, after taking over 6 companies of HAGL Agrico, during the period when the Covid-19 pandemic seriously affected countries as well as production and business activities in Cambodia, THACO AGRI made efforts to maintain production activities, stabilize jobs and income for more than 17,000 workers in Cambodia. The complexes are planned and invested in synchronous technical infrastructure and works on land to serve production and business activities, ensuring bio-safety and social security for workers.
From 2022 - 2023, THACO AGRI has implemented a pilot investment model for banana cultivation; fruit tree planting combined with breeding cows, calves and semi-grazing cows. Up to now, the company has invested in technical infrastructure including: transportation - irrigation - electricity, worker housing, convenience stores, banana packaging factory, cold storage for fruit preservation; Organizing logistics, internal transportation and export, breeding cow farms; Cow feed processing center... The pilot investment activities have met production, stabilized jobs and lives for more than 13,500 workers. All officers and employees have signed labor contracts and enjoy policies according to Cambodian law.
THACO has been implementing a large-scale agricultural production investment strategy in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
From the successful investment in the above pilot model, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of THACO proposed to the Prime Minister of Cambodia to establish two large-scale agricultural investment companies in Snuol district, Kratie province and Lumphat district, Ratanakiri province, implementing the project in the first quarter of 2024. Specifically, THACO AGRI will implement a vocational training program for Cambodian youth, take care of the health of workers and local people around the project; invest and develop according to the direction set by the Cambodian Government such as: Border economic zones, mechanical production and supporting industries, trade, services, etc.
In addition, THACO also demonstrates its social responsibility through activities such as: Sponsoring 15 mobile medical examination and treatment vehicles for the Cambodian Red Cross Society; Building more than 30 km of residential roads for villages around the project in Snuol and Lumphat; Creating jobs and stabilizing accommodation for more than 1,600 Cambodian workers at Tonle Sap in the project; Organizing 22 cultural classes for more than 800 children of workers (from 5 to 11 years old) working in the project.
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet welcomed and highly appreciated THACO AGRI's investment in the agricultural sector in Cambodia. Mr. Hun Manet also expressed his support for THACO AGRI to implement the project in the coming time.
