National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue welcomed Chairman of the Japanese Komeito Party Yamaguchi Natsuo and his delegation to visit Vietnam. The two countries are holding many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2023). National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that the visit will not only deepen the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Japanese Komeito Party, but also contribute to consolidating and strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
Chairman of the Komeito Party of Japan Yamaguchi Natsuo sincerely thanked National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue for his reception; expressed his joy at visiting Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan friendship and cooperation. Chairman of the Komeito Party thanked National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue for his active contributions to the relationship between the two countries in various positions.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Japanese Komeito Party Chairman Yamaguchi highly appreciated the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan. In the context of unpredictable changes in the world, the Vietnam-Japan relationship has a common denominator of 50 years of political trust, shared strategic interests and many similarities, which is an opportunity for both sides to strengthen cooperation.
The two countries regularly exchange delegations at all levels. On the basis of the good relationship, the two countries need to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, considering this the key and most basic factor, the foundation for consolidating and strengthening the Vietnam-Japan relationship. The two sides need to strengthen business-to-business and local-to-local connections.
The National Assembly Chairman said that the two sides exchanged many opinions on continuing to implement the three connections made in the Joint Statement during General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to Japan. These are the strategic connection between the two economies, the connection to enhance new production, and the connection of human resource training and development strategies. On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue suggested that the two governments cooperate to clarify the content of these connections in the new context and situation.
Informing that the Vietnamese National Assembly supports Japan in promoting relations with ASEAN countries; strengthening its role in regional cooperation mechanisms such as the Mekong Sub-region mechanism..., the National Assembly Chairman suggested that the Party Chairman Kominh continue to support the Vietnamese National Assembly and Japan in increasing exchanges of high-level delegations and at all levels, between groups of young parliamentarians and groups of female parliamentarians, promoting the role of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Parliamentarians' Group and the Japan - Vietnam Parliamentarians' Alliance.

Currently, the Vietnamese community living, working and studying in Japan has about 500,000 people, of which about 176,000 people live and work as trainees. Since 2019, the Japanese Government has developed a special skilled worker program. The Chairman of the Japanese Komeito Party expressed his hope that more Vietnamese people will come to work in Japan as special skilled workers, contributing positively to the development of relations between the two countries.
Affirming that the Vietnamese National Assembly and Government have always created and will always create the most favorable conditions for Japanese businesses and communities to live and work long-term in Vietnam, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue highly appreciated Japan's efforts to improve the trainee regime, hoping that Mr. Yamaguchi and the Japanese Government and Parliament would pay more attention to labor cooperation between the two countries, in addition to trainee cooperation.
The National Assembly Chairman and the Japanese Komeito Party Chairman both expressed interest in cooperation in human resource training, including cooperation in improving law enforcement capacity at sea to ensure maritime security and safety; prevent and combat natural disasters; and protect freedom of navigation.
The Chairman of the Komeito Party of Japan highly appreciated Vietnam's efforts in maintaining peace and enforcing the law at sea in a transparent manner based on international law. National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue hoped that Japan would continue to support the viewpoints and stances of Vietnam and ASEAN in maintaining peace and stability and resolving disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
At the meeting, upon hearing the news of the recent passing of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, Chairman of the Japanese Komeito Party Yamaguchi Natsuo sent his deepest condolences to the family of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh, the Party and State of Vietnam; and highly appreciated Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh's contributions to the Vietnam-Japan relationship, as well as his practical support for Japanese enterprises investing and doing business in Hai Phong during the time Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh held the position of Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee.
On behalf of the leaders of the Party, the State of Vietnam and the National Assembly Delegation, voters of Hai Phong city, the National Assembly Chairman sincerely thanked Chairman Cong Minh for sharing and said he would convey his condolences to the family of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh.
