National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attends "Tet for the poor

On the evening of January 21, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended the program "Tet for the poor - Spring of Giap Thin 2024" in Vinh city, organized by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province.

Speaking at the program, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province Nguyen Duc Trung said: Although the Party Committees, authorities and people at all levels have made great efforts, up to now, Nghe An province still has more than 45 thousand poor households and more than 50 thousand near-poor households that need the joint efforts and contributions of the whole society. Taking care of Tet for poor households, near-poor households and people in difficult circumstances is a task and activity that the entire political system of Nghe An province, organizations, individuals and businesses regularly pay attention to and carry out.

After 11 years of implementing the Tet for the poor program, Nghe An province has raised more than 726 billion VND to take care of Tet for hundreds of thousands of poor households. For the 2023 Tet Quy Mao alone, Nghe An province has mobilized more than 137 billion VND, giving gifts to more than 188 thousand poor households, near-poor households, policy families, and social protection beneficiaries, with an average value of at least 500 thousand VND per gift.

This is a meaningful activity, contributing to sharing some of the difficulties with poor households and households in difficult circumstances every time Tet comes and spring comes; promoting the spirit of mutual love and mutual assistance of the Vietnamese people.

Through mobilization programs, Nghe An province has supported the construction and repair of more than 7,500 houses for households with housing difficulties, with a total value of more than 523 billion VND.

At the program, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue presented many gifts to poor households and people in difficult circumstances.

The program "Tet for the poor - Spring of Giap Thin 2024" has mobilized and donated more than 141 billion VND from organizations, individuals, businesses, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and people from all walks of life, and Nghe An people living far from home...

“In the difficult conditions of 2023, the above contribution is even more meaningful, demonstrating a noble gesture and full of precious love. Each gift, no matter how small or large, will contribute to helping the poor “have Tet for everyone”, “no one is left behind”, together welcoming the warm and loving Lunar New Year 2024”, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province emphasized.

Earlier, on the morning of January 21, in Nghi Xuan commune, Nghi Loc district (Nghe An), National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended the ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of its founding, receive the Third Class Labor Medal and announce the decision to recognize Nghi Xuan commune as an advanced new rural area.

In 2023, in the context of difficulties and challenges, Yen Thanh district continued to achieve positive results in all fields. Economic growth rate reached 10.15%; average income per capita was 65 million VND/person/year. The new rural construction movement of Yen Thanh district ranked at the top of the province. Social security work received special attention, the poverty rate decreased to 1.09%.

Preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year 2024, Yen Thanh district focuses on ensuring social security policies and preparing necessary conditions for people to have a joyful, exciting, healthy and safe New Year.
