At the visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that the country currently has 9.2 million families of people with meritorious services; including about 1.2 million families of martyrs, 500,000 families of martyrs' relatives, 117,000 families of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, 600,000 war invalids and people enjoying the same benefits as war invalids. In July, across the country, leaders of the Party, State, Central and local levels all had exciting and practical activities demonstrating the morality of remembering the source of water when drinking water, and repaying gratitude to these special subjects.

Can Tho currently has 38,400 policy families; of which more than 5,000 people with meritorious services receive regular subsidies. The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the city's efforts and determination in the annual care work. At the same time, he noted that Can Tho is the center of the Mekong Delta, with a higher concentration of retired cadres, people with meritorious services, and policy families than other provinces. Therefore, the work of caring for people with meritorious services to the revolution must be given regular attention.
