National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue hopes that the Global Young Parliamentarians Conference will discuss and find solutions for young people to demonstrate their role in digital transformation, strongly spreading the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation.
Speaking at the Global Young Parliamentarians Conference on the morning of September 15, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that Vietnam has set two development goals: by 2030, it will be a developing country with modern industry and high average income. By 2045, it will become a developed country with high income.
Through the conference, the National Assembly Chairman hopes that delegates will discuss and find solutions for international organizations, the business community and young people to demonstrate their roles in sustainable and safe digital transformation; equitable energy transition, and adaptation to climate change.
According to Mr. Hue, Vietnam and the world are facing unpredictable events from the Covid-19 pandemic, geopolitical conflicts, instability in the food, energy, financial, and currency markets, and disruptions in supply chains. This has slowed down the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, making it difficult to achieve the goals.
Besides, non-traditional security issues, especially the negative impacts of climate change, are directly affecting the people, security and development of every country.
Accordingly, he also proposed focusing on discussing solutions to tighten cooperation in innovating economic operations, increasing labor productivity, and creating new driving forces for economic growth.

Sending a message to the conference, President Vo Van Thuong said that young people have advantages in taking advantage of opportunities, especially those brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. "This is the force that holds the key to opening new doors, new ways of thinking and doing to effectively handle common global challenges in the present and the future," the head of state said in a video sent to the conference.
The President said that sustainable development through digital transformation and innovation reflects a common concern about how to take advantage of the remarkable achievements brought about by science, technology and innovation.
In it, he emphasized the importance of international cooperation in sustainable development, expanding youth participation in solving global issues, contributing to peace and prosperity for all countries in the world.
President Vo Van Thuong believes that the Vietnamese National Assembly will continue to cooperate with parliaments of other countries, thereby making practical and effective contributions to peace, stability and sustainable development in the region and the world.

The world is facing a climate crisis, said Tomas Lamanauskas, deputy secretary general of the International Telecommunication Union. "This summer has been the hottest in many years and has seen many serious fires. This is a manifestation of climate change," he said, adding that current actions are not enough as countries continue to emit large amounts of emissions.
In this context, Mr. Tomas Lamanauskas emphasized the need to leverage the power of digital technology to save the planet and put the orbit back on track. Accordingly, countries must choose the path of sustainable development; exploit the potential of technology to address the consequences of the climate change crisis. Countries need to increase efficiency in transportation; support disaster management. Mr. Lamanauskas called on countries to upgrade digital infrastructure, ensure safe access, and reasonable data rates.
The theme of the 2023 Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference is "The role of youth in promoting the implementation of sustainable development goals through Digital Transformation and Innovation". Here, delegates will participate in thematic discussions: Digital Transformation; Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Promoting respect for cultural diversity for sustainable development.
