On the afternoon of December 18, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Nguyen Trai Bridge construction investment project and urban beautification of the surrounding area in Hai Phong.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of Hai Phong People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung said: In recent years, Hai Phong has focused on investing in expanding urban space to the North of Cam River. In addition to implementing the project to invest in building technical infrastructure for the new urban area North of Cam River with a scale of more than 324 hectares, Hai Phong has invested in building the City's Political - Administrative Center and the City's Conference - Performance Center in the above area.
It is expected that by May 2025, the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee, together with other agencies, will move to the Bac Song Cam Political - Administrative Center to work.
On October 24, the National Assembly Standing Committee passed Resolution No. 1232 on the establishment of Thuy Nguyen City under Hai Phong City. To ensure more convenient and clear travel across the Cam River, Hai Phong decided to invest in building Nguyen Trai Bridge, the 6th bridge across the Cam River and the 4th bridge leading to the new urban area of Bac Song Cam.
The project is implemented in Thuy Nguyen district and Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong city. After review, the area cleared for the construction of the bridge and access road is more than 21 hectares, in addition, the surrounding area with an area of more than 43 hectares is also recovered for urban embellishment.
Nguyen Trai Bridge consists of 4 lanes for motor vehicles, designed as a cable-stayed bridge, the bridge section is nearly 1,500 m long, the middle span is 300 m wide, the widest compared to other bridges in Hai Phong, the two towers are 111 m high forming two sails reaching out to sea. The intersection connecting to Le Thanh Tong Street has modern architecture; Nguyen Trai Street is widened from 18.0 m to 50.5 m, connecting to Le Hong Phong Street and Cat Bi International Airport.
The project to invest in the construction of Nguyen Trai Bridge and urban beautification of the surrounding area is one of the key projects of Hai Phong City with a total investment of more than 6,200 billion VND, from the central budget and Hai Phong City budget.
The project is expected to be completed in 2027. Putting Nguyen Trai Bridge into use will help build an axis connecting the existing urban area with the new urban area north of Cam River and industrial parks such as VSIP Industrial Park, Tam Hung - Ngu Lao, Thuy Nguyen... The project also contributes to connecting Cat Bi International Airport with the northern development pole of the city in the North of Cam River area, meeting the production and business development needs of enterprises, promoting the socio-economic development of Thuy Nguyen City in particular and Hai Phong City in general.
