On the morning of November 23, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan and the delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia left Hanoi , successfully concluding their official visit to Vietnam.
Seeing off the Chairman of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan and the delegation at Noi Bai airport were: Standing Member of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Pham Phu Binh; Armenian Ambassador to Vietnam Suren Baghdasaryan.
During his official visit to Vietnam, Chairman of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan and the delegation visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
At the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man hosted a welcoming ceremony for Armenian National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan and the Armenian National Assembly delegation. Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, the two National Assembly Chairmen held talks.
Within the framework of the official visit to Vietnam, General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong received Chairman of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan and the delegation.

The official visit to Vietnam by the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament is the first visit by the head of the Armenian legislature after more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries; demonstrating that Armenia attaches importance to the traditional relationship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam in all fields.
During the official visit to Vietnam by Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan, the leaders of both sides agreed that the relationship between Vietnam and Armenia has developed well in all areas in recent times. High-level exchanges and contacts have been promoted.
In addition, bilateral economic and trade cooperation has been strengthened; trade turnover in the first 10 months of 2024 reached nearly 424 million USD; an increase of 28.9% over the same period in 2023. Armenia has had a number of direct investment projects in Vietnam.
Vietnam also encourages businesses to invest in Armenia, especially in advantageous fields such as agriculture, food processing and textiles.
Believing that the potential and advantages between the two countries are still very large, the two sides agreed to continue promoting the exchange of delegations at all levels, effectively implementing existing cooperation mechanisms and agreements, contributing to strengthening political trust between the two countries; stepping up the implementation of the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Free Trade Agreement to create strong and breakthrough changes in bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
The two sides will increase exchanges and information on issues of mutual concern and each side's foreign policy; continue to coordinate effectively at regional forums, support the stance of ASEAN and Vietnam on the East Sea issue of resolving disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of international law, the United Nations Charter, the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, especially in issues related to peace, stability and sustainable development.
The two governments have stepped up negotiations and signed cooperation documents, creating a legal framework for agencies, organizations, people and businesses to promote exchanges, explore markets and opportunities for cooperation, investment and exchange of goods in specific fields, especially plant and animal quarantine, mutual recognition of product quality certification, and avoidance of double taxation.
The two National Assembly Chairmen agreed to continue discussing and reaching agreement on granting scholarships for exchange students between the two countries; continue to organize regular cultural exchange activities; and request relevant agencies of both sides to consider preferential visa policies to facilitate citizens when traveling and learning about culture.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan assessed that the relationship between the two countries' parliaments continues to be maintained, contributing to promoting bilateral relations. However, the exchange of delegations at all levels is not regular, mainly on the sidelines of multilateral conferences and forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Southeast Asian Nations (AIPA), and the Francophone Parliamentary Union (APF).
To further strengthen the relationship between the two National Assemblies, the two National Assembly Chairmen agreed to increase contacts and delegation exchanges between the National Assembly leaders, National Assembly agencies and National Assembly deputies of the two countries, exchange experiences in law-making, perfecting institutions to serve the development of each country and parliamentary activities.
The two sides are considering signing a cooperation agreement between the two National Assemblies to create a legal framework to promote and deepen parliamentary cooperation, contributing to building political trust, mutual understanding, and good friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Armenia.
The official visit to Vietnam by the Chairman of the Armenian Parliament is an important milestone, contributing to promoting bilateral relations between the two legislative bodies and between the two countries in the new period./.
