On the morning of May 19, at the Hanoi Opera House, the Ho Chi Minh Prize and State Prize for Literature and Arts (VHNT) awarding ceremony took place on the occasion of the 133rd birthday anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023).
President Vo Van Thuong attended the ceremony to present the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Literature and Arts in 2022.
The award ceremony was attended by President Vo Van Thuong; Politburo member, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairman of the State Council for considering the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Literature and Arts Nguyen Van Hung.
In addition, the award ceremony was also attended by members of the Party Central Committee, alternate members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of central and local departments, ministries, branches, organizations, authors, and relatives of authors whose works and groups of works were awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Literature and Arts in 2021.
Speaking at the award ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong commended and congratulated the great achievements that Vietnamese artists and writers have achieved in recent years; congratulated the authors and relatives of the authors whose works and groups of works were awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Literature and Arts in 2022.

The President stated that our country is gradually entering a new stage of development, requiring strong promotion of the strength of the Vietnamese people and Vietnamese culture - the driving force and important endogenous resource for sustainable development.
Reiterating the words of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized at the 2021 National Cultural Conference, "As long as culture exists, the nation exists", the President emphasized that cultural activists and creators, artists are the ones who light the torch to light the way, keep the fire and pass on the fire, playing a key role in preserving and developing culture.
The President emphasized that, in the face of current challenges and threats to human dignity, our country needs more works of high ideological and artistic value. These are works that reflect the vivid reality of social life, the scope of innovation in all areas, promote a healthy democratic life, reflect the beauty of the Vietnamese soul and the great aspirations of the entire nation.

With a creative, responsible and passionate attitude towards the common cause, in the face of the changes of the times, artists need to have a strong will and alertness to overcome external challenges and surpass themselves, explore and reflect the diverse dimensions of social life, affirming the mainstream and positive currents.
At the same time, it explores the depth of the human inner world, deciphers the rich layers of emotions, and resolves the cognitive conflicts of the struggle between good and evil, the noble and the base, between serving the people with love, responsibility, and selfish personal interests," said the President.

Reporting on the work of considering and awarding the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Literature and Arts, Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized: In recent times, agencies have made efforts to innovate the work of considering and awarding the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Literature and Arts to meet the requirements and purposes of this noble award to suit the practice of literature and arts in the new period. The work of considering and selecting the awards this time is fair, objective and rigorous; thereby ensuring the worthy honoring of valuable works of literature and arts.
The Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Literature and Arts in 2022 were awarded to 128 authors and co-authors, of which 16 authors and co-authors were awarded or posthumously awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize this time.

The leaders of the Party, State and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the State Prize for Literature and Arts to 112 authors and co-authors who were awarded or posthumously awarded the State Prize for Literature and Arts, including writer Nguyen Huy Thiep with the following works: short story The Retired General , short story collection The Winds of Hua Tat.

The Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Literature and Arts are noble awards for exceptionally excellent works of high value in literature, arts, and ideological content; they are the recognition and evaluation of the Party, State, and people for artists and intellectuals who have made many contributions to the development of the country's literature and arts.
