Secretary of the Argentine Communist Youth Union Ivana Estefano presented a paper at the workshop "Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam - Latin America relations".

Comrade Castillo led a high-ranking delegation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uruguay to attend the Workshop on President Ho Chi Minh held in Buenos Aires on August 22, during the working trip of Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department in Argentina.

Speaking to VNA reporters in Buenos Aires, Mr. Castillo emphasized that during his 60 years of revolutionary career, including 30 years of working abroad, President Ho Chi Minh actively participated in the world's progressive movement. President Ho Chi Minh was the founder of the French Communist Party, the Indochinese Communist Party and later the Communist Party of Vietnam.

He emphasized that President Ho Chi Minh creatively developed Marxism-Leninism in both theory and practice. His contributions to the struggle against imperialism, national liberation, independence, freedom, democracy, and the building of socialism in Vietnam were extremely important. He was an extremely important factor in the process of building the great national unity bloc, the central element of all revolutionary processes.

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Uruguay praised the revolutionary morality and profound ideology of President Ho Chi Minh when he pointed out that revolutionaries must always stand on the side of the people, protect the people, and ensure happiness and well-being for the people. Until today, all of his teachings still have value and are of great significance. Mr. Castillo affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh is certainly the best part of the history of revolutionaries, as well as of all humanity.

Referring to the advice of President Ho Chi Minh written in his Testament before his passing 55 years ago, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Uruguay Castillo praised President Ho Chi Minh's spirit of international communist solidarity, and affirmed that implementing his teachings, the Vietnamese people today always strive to contribute to peace, stability, solidarity among nations and development in the region and the world. In this turbulent 21st century, steadfastly pursuing the goal of peace, stability, equal development and social justice is more necessary than ever.

According to him, today, Vietnam continues to honor President Ho Chi Minh and implement his revolutionary development teachings through the cause of building and consolidating socialism through the Doi Moi process, bringing prosperity and happiness to the Vietnamese people and putting Vietnam in the list of 20 most dynamically developing economies in the world. In the international arena, with the strategic vision of the "bamboo diplomacy" school, Vietnam has expanded diplomatic and trade relations with the whole world, while making significant contributions to the stability of the Asian region, as well as world peace.

Referring to the resolution passed by the Montevideo Government last May on establishing a Vietnamese space and building a statue of President Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of the 134th anniversary of his birth, Mr. Castillo said that this will be a symbol of solidarity between the people of the two countries, and also a place to honor the great affection and support of the progressive people and left-wing forces of Uruguay in the past for the resistance war against the US to save the country of the Vietnamese people.

President Ho Chi Minh was the one who laid the foundation for the relationship between Uruguay and Vietnam, when in the 1920s he arrived in Montevideo on an ocean liner. Uruguayan Communist Party members who had the opportunity to talk with President Ho Chi Minh in the 1960s recounted that President Ho Chi Minh was deeply moved when he learned that the foreign comrades came from the distant South American country where he had set foot on his journey to find a way to save the country in 1912.

And the story about the days President Ho Chi Minh passed through Uruguay was later mentioned by a reporter from the People's newspaper (El Popular), the mouthpiece of the Uruguayan Communist Party, in an interview with Uncle Ho published in the issue of December 3, 1965.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Uruguay Castillo expressed his belief that with the long history of solidarity, the relationship between the two countries and the two Communist Parties will continue to be developed and strengthened in all fields of politics, trade, culture, education and academia.
