According to the latest report from security firm Action Fraud (UK), in the UK alone in 2023, about 22,000 people became victims of cybercrime, they were scammed and lost more than 1 million pounds (nearly 32 billion VND).
The reason why many people fall into the trap of cyber criminals is because their personal accounts are not well secured.
"Anyone with a social media or email account can be a target for scammers or cyberattacks. It's important to take action now to secure your accounts as fraud becomes harder to detect on a global scale," the Mirror (UK) quoted expert Pauline Smith of Action Fraud as saying.

Experts note that a simple way to keep your email and social media passwords safe is to not duplicate them.
You should also set up 2-step verification for an extra layer of security. Remember that preventing fraud and account hijacking includes never sharing your password or any 2-step verification codes with anyone – even family members.
Despite numerous warnings, millions of users continue to use simple, easy-to-remember passwords that are easily guessed by criminals, such as the number sequence "123456".
Even if you have an extremely strong password — one that uses numbers, symbols, and uppercase letters — it can still be cracked through common data breaches and potentially expose personal information.
That's why it's important to change your password regularly and not use the same password for multiple accounts.
“If you haven’t changed your password in a while or haven’t set up two-step verification for your email or social accounts, you need to take action today,” the expert stressed.
