Waiting until the end of September as announced by the investor, the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection still has not 'made any movement' to open to traffic as scheduled. Meanwhile, the surrounding roads are increasingly congested. The representative of the Management Board said that they are trying to open to traffic this Friday morning (October 4).
Construction started in April 2020, the construction project of Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection has a total investment of 830 billion VND.

For more than 10 days, traffic congestion has been severe along Nguyen Van Linh Street at the intersection with Nguyen Huu Tho (connecting Nha Be District and District 7) as the U-turn section on Pham Van Nghi Street continues to be closed to serve the completion of the HC2 underpass at the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection. A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that the units had to close the lane connecting to the tunnel to level the road surface after completing the closed tunnel construction in this area, and at the same time complete the asphalt paving of the underpass, paint lines and install lighting. Previously, the Traffic Board expected that a branch of the underpass would be opened to traffic on September 10, but the contractor calculated that the construction would not be completed until September 15. However, due to the impact of the weather, continuous rain, causing flooding, the asphalt paving work for the project was affected. The contractor reported that the opening time needs to be postponed until the end of September to ensure the quality of the project. "Due to the weather, the project has not been 100% completed yet. We are trying to complete the project and open it to traffic this Friday morning (October 5)" - a representative of the Traffic Department added. Meanwhile, the HC1 tunnel branch is currently about 60% complete, and is scheduled to open the entire project before December 31 this year. Given the current traffic jams on Nguyen Van Linh Street, a representative of the Traffic Department said that the current density of vehicles traveling on Nguyen Van Linh Street is very high. Congestion is inevitable. After the Nguyen Van Linh underpass project opens to traffic, the Traffic Department will organize the flow of vehicles from Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone through the underpass to return to National Highway 1. At this time, cars on Nguyen Huu Tho Street to District 7 and Nha Be will turn around at the newly designed location instead of the current opening. In the direction of travel from Nha Be to District 7, vehicles will still follow the old route, turning around at the intersection of Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Phan Chanh or Nguyen Van Linh - Pham Van Nghi. Construction started in April 2020, the construction of the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection has a total investment of 830 billion VND. According to the design, the project will build a central roundabout (60m in diameter) and 2 underpasses and branches on Nguyen Van Linh Street. The two underpasses on Nguyen Van Linh Street will go underground through the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection area, about 480m long (including the access roads at both ends of the tunnel and the closed tunnel).
