Deadline for Long Thanh airport and Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal

(Dan Tri) - Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat airport will be completed on April 30, 2025, while Long Thanh airport will be put into operation on National Day, September 2, 2026, according to the commitment of the Ministry of Transport.
The Ministry of Transport has just sent a document to Ho Chi Minh City voters on the proposal to shorten the completion schedule of Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat Airport and Long Thanh Airport. In the proposal, Ho Chi Minh City voters wish to shorten the completion schedule and promptly put Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat Airport into operation before April 30, 2025 and Long Thanh Airport in June 2026.

Responding to voters, the Ministry of Transport affirmed that the progress of the two projects must still follow the set roadmap. The finishing line for Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal is on April 30, 2025, and for Long Thanh airport is September 2, 2026. For the Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal project, the Ministry of Transport said the completion time according to the contract is June 15, 2025. Recently, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed to shorten the progress, completing the project before April 30, 2025 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification. Currently, the rough construction of the project has been completed, and the work of completing the architecture, construction, interior and equipment installation is being urgently deployed, the total volume has reached about 70% of the entire project. The investor ACV, contractors, and consultants are focusing all resources, redefining the critical path, finding construction solutions to shorten the progress by 2 months compared to the contract, determined to strive to bring the project to the finish line on April 30, 2025 as directed by the Prime Minister. For the Long Thanh airport project, the goal is to complete the passenger terminal before August 31, 2026, to put it into operation on the occasion of the National Day on September 2, 2026.

At the same time, the project will shorten the runway construction contract by 3 months, ensuring the technical exploitation of the runway before April 30, 2025 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day. During the implementation process, the Prime Minister - Head of the State Steering Committee for important national projects and works, key to the transport sector - held regular steering committee meetings to review and urge progress. The Long Thanh airport project working group has also been established, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, with members including ministers, local leaders, etc. This group regularly urges, reviews progress and handles difficulties in the implementation process, supports and accelerates the project's progress. The Ministry of Transport, as the standing agency, will be responsible for updating the progress of component projects, summarizing difficulties and problems to report to the steering committee and working group for consideration and resolution.
