The UEFA Champions League has always been considered the most prestigious club tournament in Europe and the world. This arena is where the best teams from the top national championships in the old continent gather.
The UEFA Champions League is a highly competitive tournament, with many strong clubs and a large number of football superstars. The prize money earned from the UEFA Champions League is one of the big reasons why this tournament is so attractive to teams. Participating in the UEFA Champions League can significantly increase a club's budget. In particular, performance in Europe's top tournament is also extremely important, from a draw or a win, to progressing from one round to the next.
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has released detailed figures on the 2022-2023 Champions League prize money payments, with a total amount of 2.032 billion euros. Accordingly, 55% of the amount (of 2.032 billion euros) will be divided among the clubs based on their performance in the tournament.
Man City are aiming for a treble, after winning the Premier League and FA Cup.
In the 2022-2023 Champions League, if the team wins the tournament with a perfect record in the group stage, they will earn a maximum bonus of 85.14 million euros (about 2,145 billion VND). However, the two teams participating in the final this season, Man City (4 wins, 2 draws) and Inter Milan (3 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses), could not win all their matches in the group stage.
Accordingly, the 32 teams participating in the UEFA Champions League group stage will all receive 15.64 million euros (about 394 billion VND). In addition, the clubs will receive: 2.8 million euros/1 win (about 70.5 billion VND), 930,000 euros/1 draw (about 23.4 billion VND).
For the clubs that make it to the round of 16, each club will receive an additional 9.6 million euros (about 241 billion VND). This figure continues to increase as the club advances to the next round, respectively: 10.6 million euros/team (about 267 billion VND) for the 8 teams that make it to the quarter-finals; 12.5 million euros/team (about 315 billion VND) for the 4 teams that make it to the semi-finals. The runner-up team will receive 15.5 million euros (about 390 billion VND), while the champion club will be awarded 20 million euros (about 504 billion VND).
Thus, in case Man City wins the championship, the English representative will pocket at least 82.2 million euros (about 2,071 billion VND). Meanwhile, if Inter Milan lifts the trophy, the Italian team will receive at least 77.67 million euros (about 1,957 billion VND).
After winning the Coppa Italia, Inter Milan is also eager to win the second title in the 2022 - 2023 season. Lautaro Martinez is expected to lead the Italian team to the Champions League title after 13 years of waiting.
