Ms. BMC (Dong Da district) - a flower buyer at Quang Ba market - shared: "This year, the number of customers coming here is very large, I wrapped flowers at home for customers who ordered online, arrived at 10am but by 11am I still hadn't finished going through the market because it was too crowded. From the beginning to the end of the market, everywhere was crowded, noisy, jostling, chaotic, arguing and bargaining, arguing because there was no place to move vehicles...".

As October 20 approaches, the gift market for “the other half of the world ” is bustling with a variety of products and prices. In particular, fresh flowers have increased in price by 10-15%, and some types of flowers, such as gerberas, have skyrocketed in price by 100-200% compared to normal days.

As an indispensable commodity, fresh flowers have increasing purchasing power. With a variety of designs and styles, fresh flowers are sold on many streets, such as Hai Ba Trung (Hoan Kiem district), Nguyen Khang street, Nghia Tan (Cau Giay district), Vu Tong Phan street (Thanh Xuan district), Kim Ma street (Ba Dinh district)... It is not difficult for consumers to choose a satisfactory bouquet of flowers.

According to the reporter of Cong Thuong Newspaper, flowers sold on Vu Tong Phan Street (Thanh Xuan District) cost from 100,000 to 300,000 VND/bunch. Ms. Khue, the owner of a flower shop, said: "Flower prices have increased for a week now and are expected to continue to increase in the next 1-2 days. Roses have increased the most in price, 2-3 times higher than normal days" .

This year, October 20th falls on a weekend, which brings more positive signs for revenue. Ms. Mai Ly happily shared that the number of orders has increased. Offices or companies mainly order large flower baskets with prices ranging from 700,000 - 2,000,000 VND/basket; while small bouquets of 1-2 flowers/bouquet are often given to individuals. However, according to Ms. Mai Ly, flower bouquets priced at 250,000 - 350,000 VND are the most popular.

According to Ms. Ngoc Mai, owner of a fresh flower shop on Kim Ma Street, high-end flower baskets priced from 2,000,000 - 3,500,000 VND are also chosen a lot, not only because of their high aesthetics but also because they are more durable. These flower baskets are often decorated with a combination of many types of flowers, especially imported flowers or this year's prominent trend is Da Lat succulents or orchids, with many bright colors.

Quang Ba and Quang An flower markets - "Hot spots" of the October 20 flower season

Quang Ba and Quang An wholesale flower markets (Tay Ho district) are unmissable destinations for traders and people who want to buy fresh flowers at affordable prices. The large amount of fresh goods, combined with high purchasing power, makes the shopping atmosphere here always lively and bustling. However, it is also because of the high purchasing power, along with the large number of visitors, that these two flower markets become crowded, causing jostling and pushing.

According to the reporter's records, tulips cost from 120,000 - 350,000 VND, 3 times higher than usual. As for Da Lat roses, the price is 2 times higher than usual, 120,000 - 150,000 VND for 20 flowers. Imported roses are 2 times higher or more at 280,000 - 350,000 VND for 20 flowers depending on the color. The rose market is imported by traders at Quang An market, currently imported from two large flower warehouses in the world, Ecuador and Kunming (China).

For some domestic flowers, the price is currently stable. For example, jasmine is 25,000 VND/bunch, Tay Tuu chrysanthemum and Nhat Tan chrysanthemum are stable at 25,000 - 30,000 VND/bunch because the supply is stable and it is in the main season.

As a regular customer buying flowers at Quang Ba market, Ms. NNH (Hoan Kiem district) said that besides the types of flowers that increased slightly in price by 10 - 15%, there are types that increased sharply by 100 - 200% such as gerbera daisies.

Before the festival, the price of a bunch of gerberas was 40,000 - 45,000 VND, but before October 20, the price of a bunch of gerberas had reached 100,000 VND. Regarding the quality of the flowers, Ms. Ha affirmed that the storm and flood situation did not affect the design and variety much, this year's flowers are still as beautiful and fresh as every year.

However, with the jostling and pushing at these two large flower markets, many flower buyers feel hesitant when looking for a satisfactory bouquet.
