Sua Huong Tra becomes a "Heritage Tree"

As scheduled, after 7 seasons of blooming sưa trees associated with the unique festival of the typical flower of the land of the three rivers, the festival "Tam Ky - Sua Flower Season 2024" with the theme "Sac Sua Huong Tra" will be opened on the evening of April 5.

On the occasion of this year's festival, the population of 9 Su trees with ages ranging from 100 to 150 years in Huong Tra eco-village was recognized by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment as Vietnam Heritage Trees. The ceremony to announce the decision and receive the certificate of recognition as Vietnam Heritage Trees will be held on the morning of April 5 at Cua Garden, within the framework of the festival program.

This is the honor and pride of Tam Ky in general, and of many generations of Huong Tra people in particular, in planting, caring for, and protecting the population of ancient, rare su trees in the locality.

The hundred-year-old sưa trees along the Tam Ky River have now become messengers of culture, education, history, society, ecology, and tourism of the ancient Ha Dong land.

First held in 2017, “Tam Ky - Sua Flower Season” has been continuously maintained and become a major annual cultural - tourism - sports festival not only of the provincial capital city but also of the whole province.

Through more than 20 activities spanning nearly 10 days during the blooming season of the Sua flowers, this year's festival will continue to introduce and promote the image of Tam Ky land and people, serving the needs of sightseeing, experiential tourism, and immersing oneself in nature of people inside and outside the province.

Thereby, associated with the formation of Huong Tra eco-tourism village, aiming to build the brand "Tam Ky - City of yellow sua flowers", contributing to promoting the city's tourism activities, becoming a destination in the tourist address of Quang Nam province.

The main space of the festival is still Huong Tra eco-village with indispensable "specialties" for many people when coming to "Tam Ky - Sua flower season" such as admiring and taking photos next to ancient Sua trees, immersing in the traditional Ao Dai festival, experiencing cultural activities, sports, and traditional crafts of the locality. This year, the Organizing Committee also "renewed" and diversified activities to attract tourists.

According to Mr. Vo Thanh Cung - Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Tam Ky City, activities included for the first time in the festival program include the writing contest about Sua flowers and festivals, the contest "Green Tea Fragrance - friendly, hospitable", the contest "Miss Vietnam of the Era season 2", the art contest "Tam Ky Children with nature conservation and biodiversity". All promise a memorable festival season for visitors.

As the venue for the “Tam Ky - Sua Flower Season” festival, Hoa Huong ward not only coordinates with city agencies, departments and branches in organizing the festival, but also actively participates in many local activities.

Mr. Ho Minh Son - Chairman of the Ward People's Committee said, in preparation for the festival, the locality organized a campaign to clean the environment, clear and clean village roads and alleys associated with the movement "Clean house - beautiful garden - no garbage street", decorating tourist attractions such as Huong Tra communal house and Giay tomb.

The ward also encourages the participation of people, especially households on Huong Tra street, to decorate their house gates green - clean - beautiful, and friendly toilets to respond to the contest "Huong Tra green - friendly, hospitable".

Huong Tra Village Festival is one of the notable highlights of this year's festival season. The opening ceremony will be the Spring Offering Ceremony at Huong Tra Village Communal House - a provincial historical and cultural relic, held on the morning of April 5.

This is a ceremony to arouse pride and show respect to the ancestors who founded Huong Tra village; thereby, contributing to restoring the spiritual culture of the local people. The festival includes a number of traditional sports activities and folk games, creating a vibrant playground for local people and serving tourists to visit and learn.

In addition, to promote the image of Huong Tra eco-tourism village, many activities will also be organized, visitors can participate in experiences such as the Olympic running day "Discovering Huong Tra", traditional crafts of making banh tet, banh chung, rice paper, banh xeo, Hong Lu forging.

Tam Ky is busy with the final preparations for the festival, eagerly waiting for the "Sac Sua Huong Tra" to bloom in 2024.
