On October 8, the Palestinian Authority submitted a call for an emergency meeting of the Arab League at the foreign ministers level.

Palestinian Ambassador to the Arab League Muhannad Al Aklouk stressed that the request for the meeting came amid the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel.
On the same day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) called up tens of thousands of soldiers from the reserve force to prepare to send them to the southern region of the country.
The IDF currently has 35 combat battalions deployed in the border area with the Gaza Strip and is preparing to send four reserve divisions to reinforce the Gaza Strip.

Throughout the night of October 7 and into the early morning of October 8, the Israeli army and special forces stormed the sites, freeing many hostages and killing hundreds of Hamas militants. In the sky, Israeli fighter jets and drones targeted militants, military facilities and the homes of Hamas commanders. At sea, the Israeli Navy also promptly intercepted several Hamas boats carrying militants preparing to infiltrate from the Jewish state's shores.
