Upon receiving the report from the ship owner, Thanh Hai Commune People's Committee coordinated with Thanh Hai Border Guard Station to contact vessels operating near the ship in distress to assist in rescuing people and organizing a search for victims. After contacting the ship owners operating near the ship in distress, fishing boat NT-90543-TS, operated by Mr. Tran Van My in My Hiep, Thanh Hai, rescued 1 crew member and the captain. Fishing boat NT-90998-TS, operated by Mr. Do Van Dau in My Hiep, Thanh Hai, rescued 9 crew members. By 9:00 a.m. the same day, all 11 crew members were brought to My Tan fishing port.
Local fishing vessels salvaged the wrecked ship and brought it to the south of Hon Chong.
At the same time, an ambulance was called at the port and the Thanh Hai Border Guard Station's medical staff was sent to assist in first aid for the victims. Currently, the health of 10 crew members on the ship in distress has been checked and is stable. Crew member Tran Pham Minh Vo, born in 2012 (son of the ship owner), was in poor health and was treated at Ninh Thuan General Hospital, but due to his poor health, he died on the morning of December 27 and was taken home by his family for funeral arrangements.
The sunken fishing boat was salvaged by local fishing vessels and brought to the South of Hon Chong, My Tan village, Thanh Hai commune, at 12:30 p.m. to pump water and bring it back for repair; estimated damage is about 300 million VND.
