In the midst of the scorching summer days, officers and soldiers of Reconnaissance Battalion 20 (Hanoi Capital Command) carried out a field trip to do mass mobilization work in 2023 in Thanh Lam commune (Me Linh, Hanoi).
Welcoming the soldiers back to carry out their duties, the cadres and people were very excited. Many practical tasks were deployed and completed thanks to the efforts of the army and people.
Arriving early at Thanh Van village (Thanh Lam commune), officers and soldiers of Reconnaissance Battalion 20, together with local organizations and people, renovated the entire inner-village road, cut down tall trees, and collected garbage. Road sections previously overgrown with grass and scattered trees obstructing the path were cleaned by soldiers to create an open space. All garbage and construction materials in public areas were also gathered at designated places. Under the hot weather, sweat poured down their backs, but every comrade enthusiastically tried to complete the assigned work. In the inner-field area, soldiers were also urgently clearing the canals to bring water to the fields in time for production.

Not only Thanh Van village, many other villages in Thanh Lam commune also received help from the army, coordinating to carry out many tasks. Major Nguyen Binh Quan, Party Secretary, Political Commissar of the 20th Reconnaissance Battalion said: "With the spirit of volunteering for difficult tasks, during the time of doing mass mobilization work in the locality, the Battalion organized more than 600 working days to help 10 villages of the commune participate in activities to renovate the landscape, stadium, cultural house campus, village roads, alleys, clear more than 5km of intra-field canals, and plant 3km of new flower roads".

Local cultural works and historical relics were also renovated and cleaned by the unit. During the summer vacation, the soldiers cleaned and renovated the campus of Thanh Lam A Secondary School, Thanh Lam A Kindergarten, and My Loc village kindergarten. The battalion mobilized hundreds of officers and soldiers to coordinate with local organizations and people to renovate the Thanh Lam commune football field, Phu Huu village football field, My Loc village and Phu Nhi village football field, providing young people with a convenient place to play sports.

With gratitude, the officers and soldiers of the Battalion also did a good job in policy work. The unit coordinated with Thanh Lam commune to organize the renovation of the martyrs' cemetery, visit and light candles to pay tribute to the martyrs. The soldiers helped the families of wounded soldiers build new houses. The Battalion presented 10 gifts (each worth 350,000 VND) to disadvantaged children who had excelled in their studies in the commune, and also gave free haircuts to hundreds of people.
Carrying out the local mass mobilization task, the movement activities were also organized enthusiastically. The unit organized propaganda broadcasts on the loudspeaker system about the 2015 Law on Military Service, the Law on Militia and Self-Defense Forces, the significance of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, July 27; and the results of the unit's daily tasks.

The Battalion's Youth Union coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Thanh Lam commune to exchange experiences in Youth Union activities and youth movements, organize cultural exchanges, and practice cultural performances to serve the summer camp, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere in the residential area.

The unit has helped the commune with many meaningful and practical tasks. During the process of carrying out mass mobilization work, officers and soldiers of Reconnaissance Battalion 20 always promoted a good sense of responsibility, were ready to receive and complete all tasks, leaving a good impression of the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers, "Capital soldiers" in the hearts of local people.
