Spending money on Botox injections to rejuvenate, Gen Z accidentally turns themselves into... old people

Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí21/12/2024

(Dan Tri) - The abuse of botox injections (a popular method used to remove wrinkles and beautify the skin) can cause young people to accelerate the aging process.

According to the NY Post , Botox is considered a method of "preserving" youth for many young people. However, few people know that this botulinum toxin makes Gen Z (those born between 1997-2012) look older than their actual age.

This is becoming more and more popular as many young people seek out treatments called "Baby Botox" to prevent wrinkles early.

According to a report from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, up to 75% of doctors recorded a sharp increase in the number of patients under 30 years old in 2022. This trend has many experts in the industry expressing conflicting views.

Some plastic surgeons are happy to see young people taking more care of themselves. Others worry that using cosmetic products before the age of 30 is too early and carries many risks.

"The right time to start injecting Botox is when fixed wrinkles appear. Simply put, even when your face is not moving, these wrinkles are still easily noticeable," said Dr. Brooke Jeffy, a specialist in the field of dermatology.

According to cosmetic experts, Botox injections need to be repeated every 3-6 months to maintain smooth, supple skin. This means that young people who choose to use this method will have to stick with the treatment for many years.

"Botox injections under 30 often don't provide any real benefit, and they just add unnecessary fear to young people. When they move their face, we don't even see any noticeable wrinkles," Brooke Jeffy told USA Today .

In particular, abusing botox injections too early not only makes young people look older than their real age but also carries the risk of developing drug resistance later on.

Dermatologist Anthony Rossi said that she herself has witnessed and assisted many cases of botox injection failures performed by people who were not properly trained or lacked an aesthetic eye.

During the use of Botox, young people may change the shape of their eyebrows and cannot express themselves naturally as before. This inadvertently creates a stiff, "robotic" appearance.

"The body can gradually develop resistance to the effects of Botox due to overexposure, making this beauty treatment useless. Young people always think that the more injections the better, but in reality, that is not the case," Anthony Rossi reminded.
