On the afternoon of August 30, in Lao Cai city, the Lao Cai Newspaper Journalists Association held its 7th Congress for the 2024-2026 term with the spirit of "Solidarity - Innovation - Creativity for the development of Lao Cai Newspaper".
Attending the congress were comrade Le Truong Giang, Director of the Provincial Radio and Television Station, Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association; Nguyen Thanh Nam, Secretary of the Party Cell, Editor-in-Chief of Lao Cai Newspaper; delegates representing branches of the Lao Cai Provincial Journalists Association and members of the Lao Cai Newspaper Journalists Association.
Implementing the Resolution of the 6th Congress, term 2019 - 2024, the Lao Cai Newspaper Journalists Association is interested in propagating and mobilizing members to actively participate in exciting emulation movements, contributing to the completion of the agency's common political tasks. Members always strive to overcome difficulties, complete assigned tasks well, actively create works and participate in press competitions and awards of the Central, the province, all levels, and organizations, in which many members have won high awards. 100% of members do not show signs of degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, "self-evolution", "self-transformation"; speak, write and act in accordance with the Party's viewpoints and guidelines, the State's policies and laws.
The Association always pays attention to political and ideological education for members, through activities to grasp the ideological developments of members, prevent negative influences of the market mechanism, help members have correct awareness and trust in the leadership of the Party and State.
During the past term, with the attention of the Party Committee and the agency's leaders, the work of fostering professional skills and improving the qualifications of members received special attention from the Association, with the organization of many training courses on new technology, modern journalism trends; attention to innovating the content and form of Lao Cai Newspaper publications and renewing the interface of the electronic newspaper. Specifically, the Association's Secretariat has consulted with the Party Committee and the Editorial Board to organize nearly 20 seminars and exchanges of experiences on editing skills, writing news and articles and overcoming common errors; video recording and clip editing skills; improving the quality of press photos; how to detect topics, write articles to participate in the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award; training on the application of converged newsrooms; techniques for editing press works using Canva software...
During the past term, members actively participated in press awards and won over 80 awards (in 2020, there were 2 A prizes, 6 B prizes, 6 C prizes and 11 Consolation prizes; in 2021, there were 3 A prizes, 4 B prizes, 6 C prizes and 7 Consolation prizes; in 2022, there were 3 A prizes, 4 B prizes, 5 C prizes and 6 Consolation prizes; in 2023, there were 3 A prizes, 4 B prizes, 5 C prizes and 8 Consolation prizes; in 2024, there were 5 A prizes, 8 B prizes, 8 C prizes and 9 Consolation prizes).
Membership recruitment is always given attention; timely review and training of qualified reporters to join the association. As of early August 2024, the Lao Cai Newspaper Journalists Association has 38 members; 100% have university degrees or higher; 31 members are party members.
Entering the 7th term (2024 - 2026) with the spirit of "Solidarity - Innovation - Creativity for the development of Lao Cai Newspaper", the Secretariat of the Association will advise the Party Committee and the Editorial Board in professional activities; encourage members to enhance their vanguard role on the political and ideological front, and their sense of responsibility before the Party Committee, government and people in the province; take the lead in information and propaganda work to contribute to encouraging and motivating cadres, party members and people of all ethnic groups in the province to actively strive to build a rich and beautiful Lao Cai; build and develop Lao Cai Newspaper to become the province's key multimedia communication agency.
Speaking at the congress, comrade Le Truong Giang, Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial Journalists Association, acknowledged and highly appreciated the role and activities of the Lao Cai Newspaper Journalists Association and its members. The Association has done a good job of advising, coordinating, and protecting the rights of its members; its members are always aware of cultivating and improving their professional qualifications, skills, and ethics as journalists; closely following the grassroots, creating journalistic works that are imbued with the breath of life. In the coming time, the Association and its members need to continue to improve their capacity, skills, and professional ethics, and enhance the prestige of journalists and press agencies. The Association needs to continue to pay attention to training, fostering, and protecting its members; striving to participate in and achieve high awards at major journalism awards.
Speaking at the congress, Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nam, Editor-in-Chief of Lao Cai Newspaper, said that the revolutionary press is facing many difficulties, including digital transformation in the field of journalism, requiring many changes in accordance with the requirements of the times, and must be built to become the province's main multimedia media agency. The new era has many opportunities and advantages but also many challenges when the country is developing, requiring new thinking, Vietnam will enter a new era, the era of national growth. Lao Cai strives to become a developed province of the country, creating great pressure on all sectors, including the press. The association needs to better promote the role of the association, closely follow the political tasks, well implement the goals set out in the resolution; well perform the task of educating and training members because people are the most decisive factor, ensuring the training of virtuous and talented members. Along with that, it is necessary to improve professional quality, become a place for political activities, so that members feel interested and meaningful; focus on building a strong and comprehensive branch, developing and innovating the content and methods of operation, becoming an organization that converges all 3 factors: politics - society - profession.
The Congress elected the Secretariat of the 7th term Branch, term 2024 - 2026, consisting of 3 comrades. The new Branch Secretariat determined that the task in the coming time is to continue to promote the tradition of solidarity, unity, democracy, uphold the sense of responsibility, successfully implement the goals and tasks set by the Congress; uphold the sense of responsibility, promote the collective intelligence, successfully complete the assigned tasks, worthy of the trust of the members.
