The dream of the hospital's medical staff has come true, bringing joy to dialysis patients as the hospital has been in disrepair for a long time.
On the morning of March 5, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced that Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital (one of the city's three gateway hospitals) had completed the relocation of the nephrology - dialysis department (the last remaining department) to a new facility in the 12-storey area (the new inpatient treatment area has been completed) on March 4.
At the same time, hand over the last remaining site to the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects of Civil and Industrial Works of Ho Chi Minh City.
The image of dialysis patients being housed in the new facility is not only a joy for the medical staff working at the hospital; but also an indescribable feeling of joy for kidney failure patients who have been attached to the hospital for a long time, which has been degraded and often flooded when it rains.
Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital was invested by the City People's Committee to build a new 1,000-bed hospital with spacious infrastructure and modern medical equipment, and is expected to officially come into operation in 2024.
In fact, the hospital encountered many difficulties when it had to build a new facility at the location of the existing hospital which was already degraded.
Realizing the great significance of the project, especially knowing that the city would choose this as one of the projects to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, the hospital has made efforts to overcome difficulties and carry out the relocation on schedule.
According to the hospital director's report, the relocation of the entire artificial kidney machine to the new hospital was quick, effective, and safe, ensuring continuous dialysis for patients.
Specifically, 57 patients being treated at the department (patients scheduled for dialysis on even days) were safely dialysis on March 4. It is expected that today, March 5, the remaining 57 dialysis patients (patients scheduled for dialysis on odd days) will continue treatment.
With the geographical characteristics of Hoc Mon district, expanding the scale and investing in new technology for the artificial kidney specialty to soon turn the department of nephrology - dialysis into one of the hospital's spearheads is very necessary and this has been agreed upon by the professional council of the City Department of Health.
In the immediate future, Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital has been approved by the City People's Council to purchase 40 more artificial kidney machines for the hospital. Thus, in 2024, the hospital will have 60 artificial kidney machines, enough to serve the dialysis needs of patients with end-stage chronic kidney failure in the area.
One of the Southeast Asian healthcare service hubs after 2025
The new Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital (located at 65/2B Ba Trieu, Hoc Mon town, Hoc Mon district) has a technical infrastructure scale of 1,000 beds, 500 modern inpatient beds, including 12 high-quality floors... to reduce the load on end-line hospitals and inner-city areas.
At the same time, the hospital will create better conditions in terms of facilities, equipment, techniques and expertise for healthcare for people at the front line in Hoc Mon area and neighboring areas.
This is one of three projects to build new general hospitals at gateways including Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, Thu Duc, contributing to building the Ho Chi Minh City health sector into one of the health service centers of Southeast Asia after 2025.
