AFP quoted Phnom Penh Metropolitan Police spokesman San Sok Seiha as saying that six people died in the fire, including four men and two women. Police did not provide the identities of the victims.
The fire was extinguished by firefighters after several hours, but police did not immediately enter the burned-out facility. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
"We don't know if there are any more victims," AFP quoted Mr. Sok Seiha.
Fire at a casino-hotel complex in Poipet, Cambodia, in December 2022
In December last year, a fire tore through the Grand Diamond City hotel-casino complex in Poipet, a Cambodian province bordering Thailand, killing 26 people, including Vietnamese. Some guests jumped from high windows to escape.
Authorities said the fire was caused by an electrical fault. A major part of Cambodia’s tourism industry, casinos in the capital Phnom Penh and on the borders with Vietnam and Thailand attract visitors from Asian countries.
