At around 1am, the fire from a corner of the kiosk quickly spread to the entire Vina market with a corrugated iron roof on Lac Long Quan street, Khai Quang ward, Vinh Yen city.
The house is about 500 meters from the market. Mr. Toan said he was sleeping when he heard shouts of "Vina market fire", and when he arrived, the fire had already engulfed a corner of the market. "At that time, the wind was very strong so the fire spread quickly, in just a few minutes the whole market was covered in a bright red color. The smell of burning was thick in the air, people who came to watch could not stand close because of the heat", he said.
Many vendors ran into the market to save their belongings, but the fire was so big that they couldn’t save much. More than 10 cars parked on the sidewalk were also burned.

Vina Market sells many items such as household appliances, electronics, especially clothes to serve people in Khai Quang ward and workers in Khai Quang industrial park. The market is part of the project to build "Khai Quang ward market infrastructure" with an area of 7,000 m2, implemented in 2016, but is not yet completed. Traders and people set up a temporary market to trade while waiting for construction.
