On January 27, confirming with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Manh, Chairman of Dai Yen Ward People's Committee (Ha Long City, Quang Ninh) said that a large-scale forest fire had just occurred in the area.

Specifically, the fire was discovered by local residents at around 12:00 on January 27 (28th of Tet) in Dai Dan area (Dai Yen ward) and reported to the authorities.

Due to strong winds and dry weather, the fire broke out quickly and spread to about 20 hectares of pine forest, while the terrain was difficult to access, so the fire fighting force had difficulty in extinguishing the fire.

Local security forces and residents coordinated with the fire department to put out the fire using water hoses from nearby homes. By around 9 p.m. the same day, the fire was under control.

"The initial cause may have been due to people burning previously broken vegetation. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire," said the Chairman of Dai Yen Ward People's Committee.
