US President-elect Donald Trump on November 7 appointed his campaign manager Susie Wiles as White House Chief of Staff.
According to AFP, the position of chief of staff is Mr. Trump's first important appointment since winning the 2024 US presidential election.
"Susie is tough, smart, creative and admired and respected by all," President-elect Trump said in a statement.
"Susie will continue to work tirelessly to make America great again. It is a great honor to have Susie as the first female chief of staff in American history," he said.
Susie Wiles, 67, is co-chair of Mr. Trump's campaign and a veteran political strategist. According to The Hill , Susie is a Republican from Florida (USA). She rarely appears in the media. "We call her the Ice Baby. Susie likes to be in the background. She's not in the background," Mr. Trump joked.

The New York Post described Ms Wiles in June as a "relatively low-key figure" who was Mr Trump's "secret weapon" in the election.
Before becoming a senior adviser to Mr. Trump in the 2024 election, Ms. Susie coordinated his operations in Florida during the 2016 campaign. She then continued to work with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on his campaign in that state. However, Ms. Susie has since left Mr. DeSantis' team.
The White House chief of staff is considered the most influential job in the agency. During his 2017-2021 presidential term, Mr. Trump changed four chiefs of staff.
According to The Hill , Ms. Susie will be tasked with managing the president's staff and factions - tasks that Mr. Trump faced challenges with in his first presidential term.
