In addition, Vietfootball - the tournament organizer also aims to organize a national 7-a-side football tournament for women. Recently, women are especially interested in 7-a-side football. Amateur tournaments are continuously organized but there is a lack of national-scale tournaments.
Speaking at the press conference to launch the National 7-a-side Football Cup, Mr. Pham Ngoc Tuan - General Director of Vietfootball Joint Stock Company - shared: " This year's tournament has increased the number of participating teams, creating high competition and bringing great football parties to fans.
In addition, in the near future, we will plan to organize a national 7-a-side women's football tournament, thereby forming a foundation, bringing the 7-a-side football genre to continue to develop, becoming one of the typical specialties and contributing to the development of the football movement in Vietnam ."
This year's tournament has 53 participating teams. The North has 20 registered teams with representatives from Hanoi, Hai Duong, Ha Tinh, Hai Phong, Vinh Phuc, Bac Giang... The South has 12 teams from Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, An Giang, Ninh Thuan...
Meanwhile, the Central Highlands region in Pleiku brings together 12 teams from Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Kon Tum and Lam Dong. The Central region qualifiers take place in Da Nang, including 9 teams from Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Da Nang.
After the 4 regional qualifying rounds, the 8 best teams with the best results will win tickets to the national finals taking place next December.
