In Chon Thanh town - considered the capital of rubber tree nursery in Binh Phuoc province, rubber tree breeders are excited because the price of rubber stumps is stable, the output market is attractive, bringing significant income to gardeners.

This year's rainy season, many units and individuals inside and outside the province have come to Minh Long ward, Chon Thanh town to buy rubber seedlings for planting.

Mr. Pham Manh Bao's household in Quarter 3, Minh Long Ward invested in 7 sao of rubber seedlings with about 70,000 stumps, mainly grafting PB235 rubber seedlings.

This year, the rubber seedling market is very attractive, prices are stable. Currently, a rubber seedling placed in a pot without leaves costs 10 thousand VND/pot, rubber seedling with layers of leaves costs from 15-25 thousand VND/pot.

Rubber tree nursery people in Minh Long ward, Chon Thanh town, Binh Phuoc province sell rubber tree stumps. This product is in high demand and the price is stable.

Up to now, Mr. Bao's family has sold almost all of the rubber stumps, estimated to have earned a profit of about 250 million VND after deducting expenses.

Mr. Bao said: “The economy has been very difficult in recent years, but this rubber seedling crop has really helped us recover. This year, latex prices are good, so rubber seedlings are easy to sell, and we sell everything we make. Now my family continues to invest in growing rubber seedlings for next year.”

Mrs. Chu Thi Tra Giang's household in Ward 4, Minh Long Ward has 20 years of experience in rubber seed production.

This year, her family planted more than 5 hectares of rubber seedlings and cooperated to purchase stump gourd products from dozens of small-scale farmers in the ward, with a total of 700,000 stumps.

To proactively sell, Ms. Giang signed seed supply contracts last year and early this year with a number of domestic and foreign units and individuals. Therefore, the seedlings produced were sold out as soon as they were produced. To date, her family has sold more than 600,000 rubber stumps, with a profit of about 2 billion VND after deducting expenses.

Ms. Giang shared: “This year, the price of rubber seedlings is stable, and the output is favorable. I hope that the authorities at all levels and functional sectors will continue to have support policies, creating conditions for capital for farmers to invest, and be able to bring seedlings to consuming countries.”

Rubber seedling production is a traditional occupation of dozens of farming households in Minh Long Ward. Although market prices and output vary from year to year, many farming households still stick with this occupation. This has created jobs for hundreds of regular and seasonal workers in the locality, with an income of about 9 million VND/person/month.

Chairman of Minh Long Ward Farmers' Association DONG THI MUA XUAN: In the past, the Farmers' Association has promoted and trained the transfer of science and technology in developing crops as well as rubber seedlings to farmer members. In the near future, the association will mobilize households to establish cooperatives or collective economic models to develop rubber seedlings, creating jobs and more stable income for farmers.

This year, rubber seed growers have favorable output, stable selling prices, bringing high economic efficiency. However, to develop stably, rubber seed growers need to link up in the direction of collective economic development, carefully calculate the cultivated area and must sign a product output contract.
