Participating in the joint patrol, on the Vietnam Coast Guard side, were CSB ships 4036, 4002, boat 605, belonging to Squadron 11, Coast Guard Region 1 Command.

The Chinese Coast Guard includes Coast Guard ship squadron 22603, boat 22513 and boat squadrons 22020, 22031 of the Guangxi Coast Guard Bureau. This is the first time the Coast Guard forces of the two countries have conducted joint patrols in the border waters.

The scope of the joint patrol ranges from point 1 to point 9.

This is an area with many import-export activities and goods exchange between Vietnam and China; at the same time, it is also an area that subjects take advantage of to conduct illegal activities such as smuggling, trade fraud, illegal border crossing, and illegal entry by sea.

From 2024, joint patrols in the border waters will be organized by the Coast Guards of the two countries once a quarter to regularly maintain security and order, and ensure compliance with the laws of the people of the two countries.

This contributes to preserving and developing the traditional friendly neighborly relationship between the two countries and peoples in general and between the Vietnam-China Coast Guard in particular.

On the occasion of the traditional New Year of the two nations, the Vietnamese maritime force delivered Tet gifts from the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, including 100 banh chung and 200 green-skin pomelos, to officers and employees of the force participating in the joint patrol with the Chinese Coast Guard, with wishes for a healthy, happy and peaceful New Year.
