Recently, the famous culinary website Taste Atlas has included Vietnamese beef stew, chicken salad and meatball soup in the list of the best carrot dishes in the world.
The list of the world's 100 best carrot dishes is ranked based on 478,833 reviews from diners and culinary experts.
Three Vietnamese dishes are honored to be on the list, including beef stew (2nd), chicken salad (41) and canh bong (85).
"Bo kho is a popular Vietnamese stew that can be eaten alone or with bread and herbs. The dish consists of thinly sliced beef, carrots, lemongrass, cinnamon, chili, pepper, garlic, shallots and simmered in a fragrant broth," the world-famous culinary site wrote about bo kho.
Chicken salad ranked 41st, described by culinary experts as a "salty, crunchy, aromatic salad", consisting of boiled chicken, carrots, onions, chopped herbs and mixed with a sauce of lemon, fish sauce, chili, garlic, and sugar.
Canh bong, or pork skin soup, is ranked 85th on the list. The main ingredient of this soup is bong bi. The pork skin is washed with ginger water and vinegar, then dried in the sun and grilled.
The broth of this soup is made from simmered pork bones. Other ingredients including carrots, onions, shiitake mushrooms, black fungus mushrooms and meatballs are added later. This dish symbolizes warmth and family reunion.
Founded in 2015, Taste Atlas (headquartered in Zagreb, Croatia) is known as a map that brings together traditional dishes from around the world.
According to Matija Babić, founder of Taste Atlas , the food and beverage rankings are based on opinions and reviews from experts and food critics to ensure the reliability of the awards.
