On April 11, many iPhone users in Vietnam encountered a situation where their devices asked for authentication of a strange Apple ID account. On social networking groups about technology, this topic attracted many people's attention and they expressed concern about a cyber attack targeting iPhone users.

Many social media accounts also posted with the content: "Warning corner: Everyone using iPhone, suddenly the screen shows 'Verify Apple ID', click Cancel or Later. Don't click install for strange Apple ID, there is a trick to hack iPhone."

“If you all see your iPhone suddenly showing 'Apple ID Verification' and the accounts that appear are very strange, click Cancel or Later! Absolutely do not click Install, you will lose all information as well as bank accounts!”

Many social media account holders continue to share similar warning information, regardless of verifying the content.

However, up to now, cybersecurity experts have not recorded any attacks through the display of the "Apple ID Verification" notification. Experts also recommend that people be extremely vigilant and should not share unverified information.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Son - Technical Director of National Cyber Security Technology Joint Stock Company (NCS) said this warning is fake information.

According to Mr. Son, this fake warning was issued at the same time as information from Apple warning iPhone users in more than 90 countries about targeted spyware attacks, so many people believed it was real.

However, the attacks Apple is warning about have nothing to do with the "Verify Apple ID" message. The type of attacks Apple is warning about against iPhone users have been reported before, most notably the Pegasus malware exploiting vulnerabilities in iMessage on iPhones.

The Anti-Fraud Organization representative said that the information as warned is not accurate. There have been cases where iPhone users who shared a paid account with others encountered similar situations.

Accordingly, this message occurs when the user has installed an application downloaded with another Apple ID (maybe bought a used device with an old Apple ID, or used someone else's Apple ID before to download the application..).

"In some cases, users share paid apps with their friends to avoid paying multiple times for the same app. In that case, users just need to quickly log in with their friends' IDs and download the app. After updating, the app asks for a password for verification, there is nothing dangerous about it," the Anti-Fraud project expert explained./.
