Be careful of the high price increase and shocking discount on Black Friday, buyers will be overcharged

These days, Black Friday has become a hot keyword covering social networks and e-commerce platforms. Billboards advertising huge discounts of up to 70-80% are also spread all over sidewalks and shopping malls.

In particular, the Black Friday promotion program takes place in all fields such as fashion, cosmetics, electronics, household appliances, refrigeration, health care products, food services, entertainment...

For shopaholics, Black Friday is a golden opportunity to find great discounts and own them at unbeatable prices. So, what should you buy on Black Friday 2023?

Unlike monthly or weekly sales, Black Friday is the biggest "sale storm" of the year. Therefore, instead of hunting for small-value promotional items, on Black Friday 2023 you should prioritize buying from major brands in the world and Vietnam, which are widely recognized for their quality.

For example, in the fashion industry, world-famous brands as well as domestic brands have many deep discount programs of up to 80% on this occasion.

The technology sector also has many brands that regularly participate in Black Friday promotions... In addition, some large electronics supermarket chains will also have their own programs for electronics, refrigeration, and household appliances.

On Black Friday, most major brands will have discounts on their products, giving you the opportunity to own high-end items at the lowest possible prices. However, branded items often come with a high price tag and are rarely discounted at huge discounts.

Now, the opportunity to buy big brands at bargain prices has come. However, before buying, you also need to consider the needs of use, the applicability of the product, to avoid waste in the current difficult economic context of having to "tighten your belt".

Making a list of items to buy is extremely necessary. Because super shocking discount programs can make you overwhelmed, confused and easily fall into the situation of buying a lot, including items that are rarely used.

In addition, you should learn carefully about the product you intend to buy, compare prices and product quality between many stores. Because, in the current market, there are many stores that take advantage of the Black Friday effect to raise prices very high and then apply a discount program, in fact, the original price and the price after the discount are not much different.

Raise price to reduce shock

In fact, during the previous Black Friday season, a clip appeared on TikTok "exposing" brands that used the trick of raising product prices to reduce shock.

The owner of the clip bought a bag for 350,000 VND at a shopping mall because the product was on sale. When he got home and removed the price tag on the bag, he discovered that the old tag was stuck underneath, stating the product price was 320,000 VND. That is, buying a sale item but it was 30,000 VND more expensive than the original price.

The Wall Street Journal also found that one-fifth of the sale items it tracked increased in price by 8% before Black Friday. Toys and gadgets even increased in price by 23% before the promotion.

CNN and Forbes also reported that major retailers often sell “special” electronics, made by major brands, just for Black Friday. Unfortunately, these items are of lower quality than usual.

On Black Friday, many retailers also order TVs from manufacturers, offering extremely attractive promotional prices for the exact same model you see. But they often have inferior screen quality or lack outstanding features.

So if you’re thinking about buying a new TV on Black Friday, do some research on the model. If there’s only one manufacturer offering it, reconsider. Don’t buy it on Black Friday, because it’s likely that it was made specifically for Black Friday.
