The intersection at km 748+300 of National Highway 1 with the road to Quan Ngang Industrial Park (in Gio Chau commune, Gio Linh district) is a major intersection. Every day, there are many people and vehicles traveling here, especially during rush hour and rush hour, the speed of vehicles on National Highway 1 is very high with many mixed traffic vehicles. Therefore, this location is considered one of the intersections with a very high risk of traffic accidents, and it is necessary to have appropriate and effective solutions soon.
Residents in the area said that recently, many traffic accidents and collisions have occurred at this intersection. The main reason is the high traffic density and the subjectiveness of traffic participants. Meanwhile, at this intersection, vehicles traveling on National Highway 1 often stop and park right in front of the gate of Quan Ngang Industrial Park, blocking the view of vehicles traveling from the industrial park to National Highway 1. Mr. Ho Van Dao, a resident of Ha Thanh village, Gio Chau commune, said: "At this intersection, many vehicles stop and park freely, blocking the view of vehicles when turning left and right. This situation always poses a potential risk of traffic accidents. As far as I know, there have been 4-5 traffic accidents in this area, killing several people. Local people feel very worried."

The entire Quan Ngang Industrial Park has more than 2,000 staff and workers. During rush hour, the traffic volume at the intersection increases dramatically. Ms. Hoang Thi Thao, a worker at Gio Linh Garment and Trading Joint Stock Company in Quan Ngang Industrial Park, worriedly said: “Not only me but everyone working in the industrial park in general is very concerned about the problem of moving from the industrial park to National Highway 1 during rush hour. This is also a road with a very high traffic density, posing a high risk of traffic safety. We hope that the authorities will soon take appropriate measures to ensure traffic safety in this area.”
To ensure traffic safety and order at this intersection, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has requested the Road Management Area II to add a speed limit sign of 60 km/h, and to paint additional speed-reduction warning lines on National Highway 1; the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board to clear trees that obstruct visibility at the two corners of the intersection, increase propaganda for officials and workers of the industrial park to comply with traffic safety rules, and request the Traffic Police Department - Provincial Public Security to increase patrols, control, and strictly handle cases of vehicles violating regulations by stopping and parking in violation of regulations. Currently, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee is requesting the Vietnam Road Administration to consider and soon invest in a traffic light system at this intersection.
