(VTC News) - The 182-hectare swamp park project on Thu Thiem peninsula (HCMC) is expected to become the "green lung" of HCMC once completed.
According to the planning project, more than 128 hectares of swamp in Thu Thiem peninsula (Thu Duc city) were approved to become the 3rd largest park in Ho Chi Minh City, after Saigon Safari park with an area of 485 hectares, District 12 park with an area of 150 hectares and 7.5 times larger than the Zoo.
Specifically, the park project has a total investment of about 6,400 billion VND, implemented from 2024 - 2030 according to Decision 117/QD-BHĐT on the green park development plan of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board.
According to VTC News, this park is built on a large swamp area in Thu Thiem peninsula and part of the Saigon riverbank.
At the same time, this park is also located next to Sala Urban Area of investor Dai Quang Minh with a total planning area of about 128 hectares.
Going through this area is Bui Thien Ngo street, about 2.5km long, this is 1 of 4 main roads of Thu Thien new urban area.
Seen from above, most of the area is natural marshland with diverse vegetation.
This area is sparsely populated.
On the opposite side of the park, looking across the Saigon River, is District 7. This location will be planned for the Thu Thiem 4 bridge construction project in the future.
According to the plan, Thu Thiem new urban area will be divided into 8 functional areas. In which, the park project is located in functional area number 8. The main function of this area is to protect the environment and drain water, preserving the natural wetland ecosystem right in the center of Ho Chi Minh City.
In the future, the trees planted in the park will be native trees, capable of withstanding the urban environment. In particular, this park will also build an artificial forest, creating a habitat for wild animals.
Once completed, the park project is expected to contribute to beautifying infrastructure and planning and become the "green lung" of Ho Chi Minh City.
