Mr. Hun Manet gave the above information during a meeting with more than 12,000 factory workers in Kampong Cham province on October 25.
According to Mr. Hun Manet, the United Nations has decided to withdraw tens of thousands of peacekeeping forces from Mali, including about 100 Cambodian blue beret soldiers.
"A few days ago, I agreed to withdraw our blue helmets from Mali when the United Nations started to evacuate them because in some places, the army was no longer there and even the United Nations blue helmets were attacked," he said.
Xinhua quoted Mr. Hun Manet as saying that Cambodia destroyed equipment in Mali before withdrawing troops, such as vehicles and equipment.
Following a military coup in Mali, the African country's transitional government has asked the United Nations to withdraw its 10-year-old mission.
The United Nations Security Council has complied with a resolution adopted on June 30 to withdraw the peacekeeping mission from Mali by December 31.
