Notably at this SEA Games, e-sports witnessed 9/11 participating countries winning medals, of which Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar were the countries that won medals in e-sports for the first time.

Mr. Do Viet Hung, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of eSports at SEA Games 32 and General Secretary of the Vietnam Entertainment eSports Association (VIRESA), assessed that eSports at SEA Games 32 was a great success, from the organization to the quality of the tournament and the reception of fans.

"At the competition venues, we were really surprised to see that tickets were often sold out. The stands were almost always packed with cheers and applause. Social media platforms also recorded a huge number of online viewers, even surpassing previous records," Mr. Hung shared.

Regarding the competition situation, the representative of the Organizing Committee of eSports at SEA Games 32 commented that the strength of the participating countries this year is quite even.

"The medal table changes constantly. The matches are very exciting, the audience mostly has to wait until the last moments to find the champion, the owner of the prestigious medals. The athletes have devoted themselves to the flag," he said.

E-sports at the 32nd SEA Games will take place from May 6 to May 15, 2023 at two venues in Phnom Penh (Cambodia): Naga World 2 Hotel and Olympia Mall. This is also the third consecutive SEA Games in which e-sports has become an official sport and the first SEA Games in which e-sports has gathered all 11/11 Southeast Asian countries with 322 athletes and coaches. The entire organization, operation and coordination of the tournament has been carried out with the full support of VIRESA and Vietnamese partners.
