Viktor Le, Andrej Nguyen An Khanh join U.22 Vietnam
The list of U.22 Vietnam players going to China for the international friendly tournament has been confirmed. Coach Kim Sang-sik decided to call up Vietnamese-American midfielder Viktor Le of Ha Tinh Club to try out.
Viktor Le is of Vietnamese and Russian descent and is playing in the V-League for Ha Tinh team as a midfielder. The player born in 2003 returned to Vietnam to play in 2023 and has played 39 matches so far. At Ha Tinh club this season, Viktor Le played 13 matches (5 starts), scoring 1 goal.
Although he has not played much and has not had enough experience to carry the team in V-League, Viktor Le is a potential rough diamond. He is 1.77 m tall, good at handling, skillful and has a tactical vision.
Being "molded" by a strategist who is good at developing players' abilities and knows how to live within his means like Coach Nguyen Thanh Cong is also an opportunity for Viktor Le to build a foothold, in the context of V-League having less and less room for young players to perform.
When coach Philippe Troussier led the U.22 Vietnam team, midfielder Andrej Nguyen An Khanh was a rare overseas Vietnamese star given the opportunity to try his hand. Andrej's parents are both Vietnamese, but he was born and raised in the Czech Republic (like his senior Mac Hong Quan, who played for the U.23 and Vietnam national teams). He played for FK Trinec, moved to the Sigma Olomouc youth team, and then returned to Trinec.

Andrej's potential was demonstrated when he played for the Czech Republic U.19 team, and before that, the Czech U.17 and U.18 teams. During his time training Andrej, Coach Troussier highly appreciated his student's potential, and affirmed that although he still had shortcomings, this player was very young (not yet 20 years old), with plenty of time to improve.
In addition, there is another notable face named Ho Tung Han, a goalkeeper of Da Nang Club, currently playing in Singapore on loan.
The list of U.22 Vietnam also includes veteran faces such as Thanh Nhan, Quoc Viet, Van Truong, Xuan Tien, Manh Hung, Hong Phuc...
Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh plays the role of acting head coach.
Since coach Kim Sang-sik leads the Vietnam national team, the U.22 Vietnam chair is given to Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh. The former coach of Ba Ria - Vung Tau team will lead the team to play in the international U.22 friendly tournament in China.
This is the second consecutive time that the U.22 Vietnam team has accepted an invitation to participate in this quality tournament. The last tournament took place in September 2024, when the U.22 Vietnam team, under the leadership of acting coach Dinh Hong Vinh, had 3 very useful "test matches", respectively against U.22 China (lost 1-2), U.22 Uzbekistan (lost 1-2) and U.22 Malaysia (won 2-1).
In this year's tournament, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) continues to maintain a high-quality guest lineup from different regions of Asia to increase opportunities for young players to compete and improve their skills. In addition to the familiar guests, U.22 Vietnam (Southeast Asia) and U.22 Uzbekistan (Central Asia), the tournament also has the participation of a very strong East Asian team, U.22 Korea.
According to plan, U.22 Vietnam will gather again on March 10 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.
