Information from the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board said that the unit is planning for contractors to install prohibition signs and guidance signs at the intersections of the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway and the sections connecting to the expressway for tractor-trailers, trucks with 6 axles or more, passenger cars with over 30 seats and sleeper buses before April 4.

The Cam Lo - La Son Expressway has a total length of 98.3 km, passing through the two provinces of Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue with a total investment of 7,669 billion VND. In phase 1, the project was implemented with only 2 lanes. Since its inauguration, this expressway has revealed many shortcomings, with a number of serious traffic accidents occurring.
Therefore, the Vietnam Road Administration held a meeting with relevant units to review traffic diversion plans and decided that from April 4, passenger vans with more than 30 seats, sleeper buses, tractor trailers, and trucks with 6 axles or more (with a load capacity of over 30 tons) will be restricted from traveling on the Cam Lo - La Son highway.
According to a reporter from Quang Tri Newspaper at noon on April 1, at the Cam Lo - La Son expressway intersection in Cam Hieu commune, Cam Lo district, there were no prohibition signs or guidance signs related to restricting vehicles from traveling on this expressway.
According to the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, it is expected that the plan to install prohibition signs and guidance signs at the intersections of Cam Lo - La Son route and the sections connecting to the expressway will be implemented and completed on April 2 and 3. After the signs take effect, the above vehicles will be forced to travel on National Highway 1 through Quang Tri province as before.
This means that the volume of large, heavy vehicles passing through the center of Quang Tri province will increase. Meanwhile, National Highway 1 through Dong Ha City currently has no bypass, so the risk of traffic accidents is very high, especially during rush hours.
Since the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway was put into operation, the number of vehicles passing through Dong Ha City and National Highway 1 in the south of the province has decreased significantly. Thanks to that, in 2023, the locality has reduced traffic accidents in all 3 criteria.
