MV "Love or not love":
Sad because the product is compared to "pig bran pot"
Before having pink hair, Cam used to prefer the classic style. After dyeing her hair too dark and unable to change, Cam thought it was fate and decided to debut with this image. The Gen Z singer will return to her traditional black hair in the future when she has more thoughts and wants to express herself more.
With her mother's support, Cam secretly released her first MV "Co dau ai mong " (Who would have thought) without her father's knowledge. Cam was worried that her father would not understand her music. Before that, he had planned for his daughter to become a vocal teacher instead of entering showbiz. However, Cam was lucky to still receive support and advice from her father.
Having been imparted knowledge about music and life, Cam considers her father as her teacher. This is the reason why the singer invited her father - singer Duy Manh to participate in the MV "Love or Not Love" in the role of a physical education teacher.
When making the MV, Cam consulted her parents and tried to save on production costs. In addition to performing, the singer participated in the idea generation, mixing, and orchestration stages... to bring her own color to the product.
Regarding competition with Gen Z colleagues, Cam is not pressured because she understands that each artist has a different style, audience, and direction, but she is stressed because the product is the result of the whole team.
Mixing 6 musical genres into Love or Not Love , Cam admitted that he read negative comments saying the product was like "a pot of pig slop".
Being shunned for being Duy Manh's son
Coming from a family with a father who is an artist, Cam was protected and cared for by her parents but not overly pampered. Since becoming a singer, she has matured professionally every day thanks to her parents' witnessing and accompanying her. Cam also inspired her father in return. The two were not very close because the male singer often performed far away.
When her son took the entrance exam to the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, Duy Manh spent a lot of time imparting knowledge. At first, Cam felt uncomfortable because her father was always tutoring and forcing her. Later, she realized that this was valuable, helping her understand herself in terms of musical style, emotions... Whenever there was a disagreement, Cam still argued but in the spirit of listening and absorbing from her father.
Cam confided that because her father was a singer, since kindergarten, her friends misunderstood her as being difficult to approach, and thus shunned her. She chose a positive approach to overcome this instead of being “afraid to go to school”. In high school, Cam was also bullied, but she became strong, knew how to protect herself, and focused on studying.
Like many other Gen Z artists, Cam wants to connect, so she regularly updates her life and communicates with her audience like friends on social networks. She is also quite open, not afraid to make her personal love life public, even in music because this also shows her personality, like artists of previous generations.

Although not too excellent in technique, Cam believes that the ability to convey emotions will touch the hearts of the audience. "In music, there are people who are not too good at technique, do not have a naturally good voice but know how to convey content to the audience. My father also admitted that his voice was 'plastic' at the time of releasing the song Kiep do den . Learning vocal music has helped my father improve a lot, so Cam also encourages everyone to learn to perfect their singing voice. However, this does not mean focusing too much on technique and losing emotion", Cam shared.
Sharing with VietNamNet, the female singer said that she had faced many negative comments about her appearance, some even advised her to have plastic surgery. Although she listened to opinions, she chose to accept what was appropriate. She believes that people pay too much attention to the appearance of artists, especially women, instead of listening to the music. Although she had hesitated about plastic surgery, Cam realized that the appearance her parents gave her was very precious.
In 2024, Cam will continue to release an EP with a school style. Next year, her music will change - more mature, closer to her true feelings. The 24-year-old singer affirms that although her current music is bright and positive, it is not bland but full of sincerity and closeness to the audience.
Cam's real name is Nguyen Thu Cam, who studied Piano at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and studied abroad in Italy. In September 2022, Cam officially pursued a singing career with her debut product , "Who would have thought?" , reaching nearly 8 million listens on Spotify and more than 9 million views on YouTube. In 2023, Cam was honored to be one of the female artists to have her image shown in Times Square, USA, in Spotify's EQUAL campaign.
