Vietnam Women's Union effectively implements communication work

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union has organized activities and implemented the "Community Behavior Change Communication Strategy", focusing on:

Firstly, coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committee of Lang Son province to organize a rally in response to "National Day for Prevention and Combat of Human Trafficking - July 30" along with other activities.

Second, coordinate with the Border Guard Command to organize a training session on "Human trafficking crime situation and some things to do to contribute to combating human trafficking" for nearly 300 officials of the Women's Union of border communes, wards and towns.

Third, continue to organize and implement the program "accompanying women in border areas", focusing on supporting propaganda and education methods to improve knowledge for ethnic minority women, contributing to solving some pressing issues related to women that often occur in border areas such as trafficking, sexual abuse of women, domestic violence, illegal immigration, etc.

Next is to organize workshops, dialogues, and discussions for the network of reporters, collaborators, and propagandists with knowledge and skills in crime prevention and control; drug prevention and control; and human trafficking prevention and control.

Protectionist propaganda abroad

In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also promotes propaganda and improves the effectiveness of the hotline for the protection of Vietnamese citizens abroad (0981848484) to promptly support Vietnamese citizens abroad and victims of human trafficking. At the same time, it organizes training courses on the prevention and combat of human trafficking, including updating new trends in human trafficking crimes for officials of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has stepped up propaganda on the anti-human trafficking hotline through the national child protection hotline, and conducted a survey on people's awareness of the 111 hotline on migration and human trafficking activities.

According to reports from units and localities, emerging tricks include criminals taking advantage of the occasion before and after the Lunar New Year, when the number of people traveling and trading goods in border areas increases sharply, especially the border between Vietnam and China, to organize illegal exit, migration, seasonal labor, then trick and sell them into forced labor, forced prostitution, and forced marriage... continuing to discover Vietnamese subjects, including those who were victims before, colluding with foreigners familiar with the border area to trick and lure victims, including family members, into selling them.

The subjects, through social networks, impersonated police officers and border guards, called to flirt and get acquainted with the victims, mainly Mong ethnic women between the ages of 16 and 23, pretending to be in love, promising to organize weddings, dating, inviting them to go out, or controlling and threatening the victims, then selling them abroad. Authorities discovered the incidents occurring in northern border provinces such as Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Son La, and Yen Bai.

The situation of buying and selling human body parts for rent is complicated. During the time of operation, the lines illegally profited tens of billions of dong.

In general, ministries, branches and localities have paid attention to directing and developing specific programs and plans, proactively and promptly advising and proposing the issuance of documents directing, operating and coordinating the implementation of key tasks.

The work of preventing human trafficking has made clear changes, especially communication on prevention and combating human trafficking on mass media. Judicial sectors have closely coordinated, accelerated the progress of investigation, prosecution, and strict trial of human trafficking cases according to instructions. The work of receiving and supporting victims to integrate into the community has been carried out in accordance with regulations. The assigned ministries and sectors have urgently researched, developed, and proposed to competent authorities to implement newly issued legal documents. International cooperation continues to be strengthened and expanded.
