Due to the impact of continuous heavy rains in recent days, Vu Thu district has about 143 hectares of rice that has fallen over, more than 92 hectares of vegetables that have been flooded, of which 70% of vegetables in the flooded area have been damaged or spoiled. Inspecting the actual flooding situation in the fields of O Me 2 village, Tan Phong commune and the drainage work at Tan Phuc Binh drainage pumping station (Phuc Thanh commune), the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council requested Vu Thu district to focus on directing and urging localities to urgently remove obstacles, clear the flow, and facilitate the drainage of water in the fields; delineate and operate drainage pumping stations to rescue water-logged areas such as Tan Phuc Binh area (Tan Phong, Phuc Thanh), Ha Choc, Soi Choc areas (Xuan Hoa, Hiep Hoa), Phu Sa area (Tu Tan)... Mobilizing farmers to urgently harvest vegetables to limit damage, forcing fallen rice to stand up to prevent rice grains from sprouting.

According to a quick report from the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rains, over 2,200 hectares of winter-spring rice were flooded, of which over 350 hectares were damaged; 500 hectares of crops were severely affected, concentrated in the communes of Dong Do, Bac Son, Kim Trung, Minh Tan, Thai Hung, Duyen Hai...
At the inspected places, the Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission requested the district's agricultural sector and localities to strengthen direction and guidance for farmers on measures to overcome and care for crops after flooding, focusing on key communes for winter crop production; mobilize forces and means to urgently clear the flow and promptly drain water for flooded areas of winter-spring rice and vegetables; and immediately tie up flooded areas of winter-spring rice. In addition, the District Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise was directed to close irrigation sluices, open drainage sluices, thoroughly drain surface water from fields, and operate pumping stations to drain water when heavy rains continue to occur.

Also on the afternoon of September 28, Hung Ha district leaders established delegations to inspect agricultural production and direct measures to prevent flooding for rice and vegetables in the entire district.
