According to information from Lao Cai Hydrometeorological Station, from April 2 to April 4, localities need to be on guard against extreme weather, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes.
On April 3-4, the low-lying areas of Lao Cai province continued to experience widespread heat, with some places experiencing severe heat with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 35-37oC, and some places above 37oC. The lowest relative humidity was commonly 45-50. This heat wave lasted until the end of April 4, and from April 5, the heat gradually eased.
However, according to the assessment of Lao Cai Hydrometeorological Station, due to the influence of the southern edge of the low pressure area in the West developing and expanding to the Southeast, the wind in some districts of the province has a dominant direction of strong westerly blowing, possibly increasing to level 3 - 4 (speed 5 - 6m/s), combined with high temperature and a sharp decrease in air humidity, causing hot air currents to rise strongly, very easily causing thunderstorms, tornadoes, and whirlwinds.

Thunderstorms, tornadoes, and whirlwinds are phenomena that occur quickly, often accompanied by showers or hail, sometimes with dry thunderstorms (also known as thermal thunderstorms), especially occurring in the late afternoon and at night in the highlands and mountainous areas of the province (high risk in districts and towns: Sa Pa, Van Ban, Bat Xat, Muong Khuong, Simacai, Bac Ha).

This weather phenomenon can affect human life, agricultural production, and damage traffic works and infrastructure, so local units and people in the province need to take precautions.
