Migration is an integral part of Vietnam’s overall development, reflected in the number of Vietnamese citizens migrating for work, study, marriage, family reunification and other purposes, both within and outside the country. Migrant workers are a sustainable source of contribution to Vietnam’s socio-economic development.
According to a survey by the Vietnam Women's Union, women account for 55.5% of the migrant population nationwide. In 2020, there were 3.4 million Vietnamese migrants (accounting for 3.3% of the total population), including 1.71 million women.
