In recent days, many large ornamental gardens in Ho Chi Minh City have been dyed yellow by Dien grapefruit trees laden with fruit. Some trees have been "ordered" early by customers to welcome the Lunar New Year of At Ty.
Ornamental gardens along roads such as Pham Van Dong, Mai Chi Tho (Thu Duc City), Thanh Thai (District 10)... are dyed with the brilliant yellow color of Dien grapefruit trees laden with fruit. According to gardeners, from July to the end of September, businesses here will go to the North, especially gardens in Hung Yen, to select each grapefruit tree and place orders in advance. By mid-December, they will start transporting them to Ho Chi Minh City for care, and then deliver them to customers near Tet. Depending on the needs of each customer, the garden has many different ways of decoration such as hanging "giant" bows, lanterns, Tet parallel sentences... to make the grapefruit tree more brilliant. According to professionals, a beautiful grapefruit tree, suitable for Tet decoration, must have green and thick leaves, moderately ripe fruit, and young shoots... In addition, gardeners also invest in decorating the pot. To ensure that the plants can grow in the hot weather conditions in the South, bonsai garden owners must spend a lot of effort nurturing and shading to avoid fruit blight. "We have to cut off the old, browned fruits to avoid weakening the tree. This year, the weather in Ho Chi Minh City is quite good, suitable for Dien grapefruit to grow. Although the transportation cost and the price of imported trees are a bit higher than last year, the warehouse still keeps the price stable. I imported 70 large grapefruit trees and 30 small grapefruit trees in the first batch, and so far customers have pre-ordered about 40%" - Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dat, an owner of an ornamental tree warehouse, shared. Some trees were damaged during transportation and had many fruits grafted onto them by gardeners, including Buddha's hand fruit and tangerines, to create style and keep their shape. According to gardeners, each pot has an average of 50 fruits or more, some pots have over 100 fruits. In the photo are some large grapefruit pots worth over 80 million VND from Viet Anh on Mai Chi Tho Street (Thu Duc City). In addition to welcoming customers to choose directly, Ms. Trinh Thi Minh Uyen also recorded videos and took photos for customers from afar to choose. "At this time, the grapefruit is ripe and yellow, beautiful enough to continue to care for, prune and decorate" - the tree seller added. The price of each Dien grapefruit tree ranges from 10 to over 80 million VND. Before delivering to customers, garden owners carefully wrap the fruit. In addition to grapefruit, garden owners often import kumquat trees, mini bonsai trees, etc. with many prices to meet all customer needs during the upcoming Tet holiday.
