"When I was little, every time I lay in a hammock listening to my father sing lullabies, I would sing along. Later, my father bought me a radio, and every time I listened to a music program, I would take out my notebook and write down my favorite songs and sing them by heart," Lam recalled.

Ms. Lam said that when she was only 7 years old, although her family was a farmer and had a hard life, seeing that their youngest daughter loved to sing, her parents took her to the Thanh Hoa Province Children's Cultural House to learn about her talent.

"No matter how hot or cold the weather is, my father still takes me on his old bike every day to singing lessons, nurturing my passion for music," said Lam.

With the guidance of teachers at the Children's Cultural House, in 2005, Do Thi Lam won first prize in the Hoa Phuong Do singing festival in Thanh Hoa province. From this award, the female student was admitted directly to the Intermediate School of Culture and Arts (now the Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

"Winning the Sao Mai contest was my chance to become a professional singer. At that time, if I had pursued a singing career, the pay would have been huge. But I chose to become a teacher because I wanted to inspire and instill a love of music in my students," Lam said.

"Tomorrow must be better than yesterday!"

As a music teacher and an artist, the female lecturer believes that any profession requires dedication, effort, and intelligence to be successful.

"Music is not an easy art form, it requires hard work. I have never compared myself to anyone but always set a goal, tomorrow must be better than yesterday," Lam said.
