Quang Ninh is a key province in terms of economy and national defense - security in the Northeast of the country, with land borders, sea borders, international border gates and openings, seaports. Natural geographical conditions are the basic advantages for the province to integrate and develop comprehensively. However, besides the positive aspects, the above-mentioned terrain characteristics of the border area are also favorable conditions for criminals to operate, especially smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border at the end of the year.

Clearly identifying the characteristics of the local situation, in recent times, the provincial Border Guard has proactively done a good job of prevention, increased patrolling, and closed control of the area to promptly detect and effectively prevent all types of crimes, firmly protecting sovereignty and border security. The provincial Border Guard has also proactively coordinated closely with functional forces in the work of grasping the situation, fighting and preventing crimes, law violations, protecting sovereignty and national security, and preventing passive and unexpected situations.

The provincial Border Guard also focuses on propagating and disseminating laws, raising awareness, consciousness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and people in protecting sovereignty and border security. Accordingly, based on a firm grasp of the characteristics and needs of each target, agencies and units, the provincial Border Guard has proactively developed content, determined appropriate and effective forms and methods of propaganda.

With many efforts, solutions and a determined spirit to attack all types of crimes, since the beginning of the year, the provincial Border Guard has successfully organized 2 special projects, 8 professional plans; arrested and handled a total of 249 cases/368 violators in the fields of drugs, illegal immigration, smuggling, transporting goods of unknown origin across the border, illegal exploitation of aquatic products, etc.

Proactive and flexible in performing tasks

It is estimated that at the end of the year, drug crimes and smuggling activities tend to increase and will continue to be complicated. Meanwhile, the lives of people in border areas are still difficult, and criminals continue to take advantage of people's lack of knowledge to hire people to transport drugs, smuggle, and illegally transport goods and prohibited goods across borders and border gates.

Notably, at 7:45 a.m. on October 29, at Km87+400m of National Highway 18C (in Po Hen village, Hai Son commune, Mong Cai city), the Po Hen Border Post working group coordinated with Bac Son Border Post to arrest Nguyen Viet Duc (born in 1998, residing in village 3, Hai Xuan commune, Mong Cai city) who was transporting 900kg of frozen pork belly without documents proving its origin and legality.

In particular, units are required to focus on grasping and forecasting the internal and external border situation, on that basis, preside over advising and proposing measures to effectively combat and prevent all types of crimes, especially crimes involving drugs, fireworks, smuggling, and trade fraud; at the same time, proactively coordinate with forces to grasp the local situation to prevent the formation of hot spots and complications.

Direct and urge units to carry out basic professional tasks; investigate and verify subjects illegally buying, selling, and storing drugs and explosives in border areas to establish specialized projects and effective professional plans. Strengthen coordination with functional units in exchanging and reporting on the local situation, new methods and tricks of criminals; develop plans, arrange means and forces, and be ready to mobilize to participate in capturing and pursuing subjects when requested for coordination.

The provincial Border Guard force also focuses on coordinating with local Party committees and authorities to promote propaganda, dissemination and education of laws, the Vietnam Border Law, raising awareness among cadres, party members and the masses about the methods and tricks of various types of crimes on the border, thereby actively participating in the fight against them. In particular, focusing on strong attacks on networks and ringleaders, preventing hot spots of smuggling and transporting smuggled goods in the assigned areas and areas...
