On the afternoon of January 12, at Bau Thanh Stadium, Thanh Nien Newspaper coordinated with the People's Committee of Long Dien District (Ba Ria-Vung Tau) to organize the opening ceremony of the qualifying round of the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 THACO Cup (TNSV THACO Cup 2024) in the Southeast region.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Van Xinh, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Vo Huu Hanh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Long Dien District Party Committee; Mr. Lam Van Hong, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the Long Dien District People's Committee; Ms. Tran Ngoc Than, Director of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Radio and Television Station; Mr. Truong Duc Nghia, Editor-in-Chief of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Newspaper. Along with representatives of the Board of Directors, coaches, football teams of 6 schools, including Binh Duong University, Thu Dau Mot University, Dong Nai University of Technology, Lac Hong University, Vietnam University of Petroleum and Ba Ria-Vung Tau University ; leaders of the People's Committees of Xuyen Moc District, Dat Do District, Phu My Town... and more than 1,000 students of universities, people in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
Mr. Nguyen Van Xinh, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Party Committee attended the opening ceremony.
In addition, the opening ceremony also had the presence of Coach Tran Minh Chien (Technical Director of Kon Tum Club) who is in Ba Ria City to recruit players for the Vietnam U.20 team. Mr. Huynh Vu Kim Anh Tuan, representative of Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO - the main sponsor); Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long, Director of BIDV Phu My Branch; Mr. Hoang Nhu Trung, Director of Hoang Trung Investment - Trade - Construction Company Limited and other sponsors and partners.
People of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province attended the opening ceremony and cheered for the football teams.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Lam Van Hong, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Long Dien District thanked Thanh Nien Newspaper for choosing the locality as the venue for the tournament.

I received compliments from coaches and many players that Bau Thanh Stadium is wonderful. This stadium can even host tournaments of a larger scale. As the host of the Southeast qualifying round of the tournament, I am very proud although there are still many conditions to strive for. We look forward to receiving sincere comments from the tournament organizers, Thanh Nien Newspaper and the Vietnam Football Federation, to do even better, so that we can organize a football festival like today", Chairman of Long Dien District People's Committee shared.

In his opening speech, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, Mr. Lam Hieu Dung, said that the Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament is a tournament assigned by the Central Youth Union and the Central Vietnam Student Association to Thanh Nien Newspaper to coordinate with the Vietnam Football Federation to organize annually during the period of commemorating the Vietnamese Students' Traditional Day on January 9 to celebrate the Youth Union's founding day on March 26 and Vietnam Sports Day on March 27. This tournament has been officially included in the annual national competition system of the Vietnam Football Federation and the Vietnam Student Sports Tournament VUG.
