Speaking with Thanh Nien reporters today (December 13), Mr. Phan Anh Tuan - in charge of the table tennis department of the Department of Sports and Physical Training said that the Vietnamese table tennis team has not been focused since finishing their mission at ASIAD 19, so expert Du Chi Quoc also quit his job.

Mr. Phan Anh Tuan added that in 2024, the Vietnamese table tennis team will only participate in the Southeast Asian Championship, so they will focus on the short term. Explaining the reason for not sending athletes to compete in tournaments in the qualifying system for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the leader of the table tennis department said that considering the current professional ability of Vietnamese athletes, they are not capable of entering the group with a place to attend the Olympics, and the cost of participating in those tournaments is expensive, so it is expected that no athletes will be sent to participate. This will be specifically reported by the department to the leaders of the Department of Sports and Physical Training.
Table tennis player Nguyen Anh Tu and other Vietnamese table tennis players have few opportunities to compete internationally.
Vietnamese table tennis player Doan Kien Quoc has twice qualified for the Olympics. In the SEA Games arena, Vietnamese players have also excelled in consecutively winning gold medals at the 30th SEA Games in 2019 (men's doubles, Nguyen Anh Tu/Doan Ba Tuan Anh), 31st in 2022 (men's singles, Nguyen Duc Tuan), 32nd in 2023 (mixed doubles, Dinh Anh Hoang/Tran Mai Ngoc).
