On November 25, the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts held a seminar on "Innovation practices through the integration of culture and technology in China" presented by Prof. Dr. Yong Xiang - Institute of Cultural Industries, Peking University.
Attending the Seminar, on behalf of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts, there were Dr. Hoang Thi Binh and Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Lan Oanh - Deputy Director of the Institute; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - Director of the Center for Development of Contemporary Cultural and Artistic Industries; staff, researchers and graduate students of the Institute.

Chinese experts include: Associate Professor Chen Yan - Head of the Department of Musical Instruments, School of Music, Tianjin University of Communications; Associate Professor Tu Ya, Inner Mongolia Institute of Art; Ms. Du Yi - Deputy Director of the Center for Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Dali Province, Yunnan; Dr. Zhao MingWei - Major in Cultural Industry Management, Shaanxi Normal University of Kindergarten; Mr. Xiang FangXun - Chairman of Zhejiang Xiangshang Digital Intelligence Group; Graduate student Wei Xixiao of the Academy of Arts, Peking University;
Guest delegates include Mr. Tran Hoang - Director of the Copyright Office.
At the Seminar, Prof. Dr. Yong Xiang shared about the practice of innovation through the integration of culture and technology in China through four main contents: Characteristics of the era of integrated innovation; Policy management of integrated innovation; Challenges and opportunities of integrated innovation; Future prospects of integrated innovation.
Prof. Dr. Yong Xiang highlighted the importance and relationship between culture and science and technology. To illustrate this interesting relationship, he used the example of the development of the game Black God: Wukong - an action role-playing game (ARPG) set in one of the Four Great Chinese Classics Journey to the West.
The combination of culture and science and technology has made this game boom in China and brought huge revenue, not only for the game industry but also promoted related cultural industries.
Some other examples include the Digital Museum project applying 3D scanning and modeling virtual reality technology; the Traditional Culture Digitization project...

Some policy management methods in innovation integration were also shared in detail by Mr. Yong Xiang at the Seminar such as: Policy changes to promote integration; Financial incentives; Complete policy system; Financial support from the state budget and a series of policies to promote the deep combination of culture and technology, building a favorable policy environment issued by the Chinese government.
China aims to achieve the world's leading level of digital development by 2035 and make great achievements in building "Digital China".
In addition to applying science and technology to culture, the Chinese government also strongly implements the transformation of state-owned cultural units into cultural industrial enterprises with policies to promote integration; preferential financial policies; financial support policies from the state budget; building funds to support cultural industries, etc.
Thanks to that, in just the first 6 months of 2024, the growth rate of large-scale cultural enterprises in China reached 7.7%, from which new cultural forms emerged.
The Seminar ended successfully, opening up many opportunities for cooperation and learning between Vietnam and China in the field of cultural and technological integration.
The profound and detailed sharing of Prof. Dr. Yong Xiang helped Vietnamese delegates grasp modern innovation trends and strategies, which can then be applied to domestic cultural management and development practices.

On behalf of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, Dr. Hoang Thi Binh expressed her sincere thanks to Prof. Dr. Yong Xiang and the guest delegation. The Vice President expressed her hope for similar international seminars and cooperation in the future.
She also emphasized the role of innovation in enhancing cultural values, and affirmed the Institute's determination to promote the integration of culture and technology, in order to contribute to the sustainable development of Vietnam's cultural and artistic industry.
