Disney blockbuster 'Moana 2' postponed in Vietnam

The distributor representative confirmed that "Moana 2" has been indefinitely postponed in Vietnam.

The movie Moana 2 (Vietnamese title: Moana's Journey 2) was originally scheduled to premiere in Vietnam on November 29. However, up to now, the film has no screenings on online ticketing platforms.

Talk to PV , publisher representative confirmed the information Moana 2 has been postponed indefinitely in Vietnam, due to the lack of a film approval schedule. “The film’s release date and related information will be updated after we receive an official announcement from the Cinema Department,” the distributor said.

Moana 2 is the sequel to the blockbuster Moana, caused a global fever when it was released in 2016. It is a key project of Disney at the end of 2024 . Moana 2 is expected to "sweep" theaters worldwide.

The film follows the “sea princess” Moana on a new adventure. Through the request of her ancestors, Moana learns that a dark force exists in the form of a giant storm, causing misery for people across Oceania. To destroy this storm, she, Maui and her new companions must find a way to break the curse, thereby directly confronting the one behind it all - an underworld goddess named Matangi.

Moana 2 has an estimated budget of up to $150 million . The project is directed by three completely new directors including Jason Hand, Dana Ledoux Miller and David Derrick Jr. In addition, the star duo Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson will both return to voice Moana and Maui.

Previously, the prequel Moana launched in 2016 in Vietnam 16 billion VND opening, quite impressive achievement at that time.
