Professor, Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, worked with the leaders of K Hospital to grasp the situation and give instructions regarding information reflected on social networks about the attitude and medical ethics of medical staff here.
Regarding the incident, according to Professor, Dr. Le Van Quang, Director of K Hospital, as soon as there were complaints about the hospital on social networks, K Hospital organized a meeting between the Hospital Board of Directors and heads of departments and offices and separate meetings with each department and office as assigned to verify the information reported on social networks, at the same time disseminate and review the issued regulations in professional work, attitude, and communication with patients and their families.
Dr. Ha Anh Duc spoke at the meeting. |
Hospital Director Le Van Quang also said that after verification, the hospital discovered that among those images there was an image of giving the doctor an envelope that happened in 2014, this medical staff was disciplined and transferred to another job.
The Director of K Hospital said that currently, there are a lot of patients coming for treatment, overloading all 3 treatment facilities, in which the radiotherapy unit works continuously day and night.
Faced with this situation, the Hospital realized that there was a risk of negativity arising, so in recent times it has always corrected its service attitude, especially the work of preventing and combating negativity, thereby disciplining a number of staff who had inappropriate behavior and attitudes towards patients.
Also according to the Director of K Hospital, on August 19, immediately after receiving instructions from the leaders of the Ministry and the Departments/Offices, the Hospital sent a dispatch reporting the incident to the Ministry of Health;
The hospital also reviewed the medical examination and treatment process, thoroughly instilling the spirit and working attitude in all hospital staff. Along with that, the hospital invited the police and functional agencies to verify; publicized the hotline phone numbers of all 3 facilities...
At the meeting, Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health, requested that hospitals should thoroughly understand the code of conduct, improve responsibility in performing public duties, and professional regulations of medical staff;
At the same time, strengthen the organization of training on communication skills, behavior, expertise and professionalism; implement the motto "Taking the patient as the center", with the spirit of listening and being receptive in caring for and treating patients;
Proactively review, develop plans and inspect the organization and implementation of quality management of medical examination and treatment services; Promote digital transformation of healthcare in the implementation of medical examination and treatment procedures...
Regarding the recent appearance of clips related to the behavior of medical staff at K Hospital on social networks, Professor Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, emphasized that the spirit of the Ministry of Health is to clarify, publicize and strictly handle "no forbidden areas" if negativity is detected.
According to Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan, the number of cancer patients has increased sharply, although the central level has invested in building 3 facilities, it is still not enough to meet treatment needs.
To serve patients, the hospital has divided shifts/teams for examination and treatment... thereby showing the hardships and difficulties of medical staff in general and doctors at K Hospital in particular.
Regarding the recent incident, the Deputy Minister directed that the hospital needs to closely follow the authorities to clarify and promptly inform the press as soon as the results are available.
Periodically collect opinions from patients, patients' families, and medical staff to promptly overcome limitations and shortcomings in the medical examination and treatment process, communication, behavior, etc.
Strengthen inspection and supervision of staff in performing their duties, strictly handle violations (if any). Hospitals need to pay more attention to the lives of medical staff by increasing legitimate income.
Review medical examination and treatment procedures; reduce administrative procedures; increase the application of information technology in medical examination and treatment activities; strengthen training, guidance at the grassroots level, and remote consultation to reduce the burden on upper-level medical facilities;
Strengthen procurement and bidding to ensure that there is no shortage of medicines and medical supplies for medical examination and treatment; promptly complete the project to build a 4th facility and submit it to the Ministry of Health; strictly reward and punish;
Publicize hotline numbers to promptly receive feedback from the public; strengthen professional work, provide additional training in communication and behavior towards patients, even for security forces.
Professor, Dr. Le Van Quang, Director of K Hospital, said that if the hospital receives any feedback from patients about inappropriate attitudes of medical staff, they will suspend work for 1-2 weeks to verify and clarify. If the medical staff is found to be negative, disciplinary action will be taken.
Due to the large number of patients and limited facilities, doctors had to divide shifts/teams to care for patients.
Therefore, the hospital director hopes that patients will comply with the regulations and avoid "cutting in line" to avoid negative consequences such as disorder, safety, and security in the hospital grounds to ensure the best conditions for the medical team to examine and treat patients.
In the near future, to meet the needs of medical examination and treatment, the hospital plans to purchase 4 more radiotherapy machines. The hospital also promotes reinforcement for lower-level hospitals to reduce the burden on the hospital and avoid negative incidents.
The Director of K Hospital also affirmed that, in the spirit of openness, the hospital will strictly handle violations in medical examination and treatment activities (if any) and publicly, transparently, and notify the mass media.
Previously, the Tiktok account DTT posted content about cancer patients suffering immensely while being treated at K Hospital, branch 2. Accordingly, when patients come here, they are "sucked" to the last penny, using any service costs money, wanting to receive radiation therapy costs 200,000 VND.
When watching the clip, there were some negative comments about the behavior of doctors and medical staff here, saying that they had experienced it when taking care of sick family members here.
Regarding this accusation by the person named above, in the press release issued by K Hospital on August 20, this facility affirmed that recently, on a number of social networking platforms, many videos have appeared posted under the account name Tiktok DTT (ID: @xx.thanh.xx) and a number of other accounts with distorted, slanderous and spreading information with the purpose of defaming the image of K Hospital and the personal reputation of doctors and medical staff.
The hospital confirmed that it had brought the case to the police for investigation and clarification. However, before the announcement of K Hospital, the community continued to have opinions that it was undeniable that the doctors of this hospital had recently behaved inappropriately towards patients and their families.
Some opinions expressed disagreement with the way this Hospital handled the situation by "pushing" all responsibility onto the whistleblower, while the case is still being clarified by the authorities and there is no conclusion yet.
Public opinion believes that while waiting for the authorities to review and conclude, K Hospital also needs to review the entire incident, consider and correct inappropriate working attitudes (if any) of the ministries, doctors and nurses to further improve the quality of medical examination and treatment.
